Lil Uzi Vert is planning to bring back one of the most talked-about celebrity body modifications in recent years. The rapper revealed in a recent interview that the famous $24 million pink diamond that once sat in the middle of their forehead may soon make a comeback. The unusual piece of jewelry first went viral in February 2021 when Uzi showed off the gemstone on social media, immediately sparking global attention and mixed reactions from fans. At the time, the rapper captioned the post “beauty is pain,” a line that quickly became associated with the bold look. The diamond did not stay in place for long. 

Just a few months after its debut, reports surfaced that the gem had been ripped out during a festival performance, which led many people to assume the experiment was over for good. However, in a new interview published on March 3 with Dazed magazine, Uzi confirmed that the diamond still exists and that they are actively working on a way to reinstall it. According to the rapper, the next version of the piercing would be designed to be far more secure than before. Uzi explained that they have been exploring different engineering ideas to make sure the gemstone stays safely in place.

“I’ve been getting some stuff mocked up just to see if I could get like two anchors to hold it in my head,” Uzi told the outlet. The artist added that once the design is finalized, they plan to put the diamond back in.

Uzi also addressed criticism surrounding the body modification. The rapper said that when insurance questions were raised, they had to clarify that the diamond should not be considered self-harm or self-mutilation.

“It’s a piercing,” Uzi explained in the interview, adding that they had to make that distinction clear when discussing it with insurers.

The pink diamond itself has an unusual backstory. According to media reports, Uzi spent years paying off the gemstone, which was sourced and designed through the well-known New York jeweler Elliot Eliantte of Eliantte & Co. The jeweler previously explained that creating the forehead mounting required a highly specialized design rather than a traditional piercing setup.

Eliantte revealed that most body modifications are made using stainless steel or surgical-grade materials. In Uzi’s case, however, the piece had to be engineered using precious metals in order to properly secure the gemstone. The mounting system reportedly includes a custom clip and locking mechanism designed with extremely precise measurements.

According to the jeweler, every component was created with millimeter-level precision to ensure the diamond could sit properly on Uzi’s forehead while remaining stable.

Whether the diamond actually returns remains to be seen, but the rapper’s latest comments suggest the idea is far from abandoned. If the plan moves forward, the return of the famous pink diamond would likely reignite the same viral reaction that surrounded it the first time.
