Director Anil Sharma has opened up about Apne’s sequel Apne 2’s fate. During an interview with Hindustan Times, he revealed that Apne 2, which would have supposedly starred Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Dharmendra, may not be made right now. Speaking after Dharmendra’s demise, Anil shared that previously the sequel was planned as a continuation of the 2007 family drama Apne. However, the shooting for the movie never began.

The filmmaker said, “Apne to apno ke bina nahi ho sakti. (Apne cannot happen without close people). Without Dharamji, it’s impossible to make the sequel. Everything was on track and the script was ready, but he left us. Some dreams remain unfulfilled. Without him, it’s not possible!”
Sharma and Dharmendra collaborated across several films, such as Hukumat, Elaan-E-Jung, Farishtay, Tahalka, and Apne. Their planned reunion in Apne 2 was set to add another heartfelt chapter to their long-standing partnership. But it now remains incomplete.
Now Dharmendra’s last appearance would be in the upcoming movie Ikkis. It is slated to hit the theatres on December 25, 2025. It is directed by Sriram Raghavan and stars Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda.
The veteran actor passed away at the age of 89. His passing left behind an unmatched legacy of over six decades. The actor, born as Dharmendra Singh Deol, breathed his last at his residence. He was admitted to Breach Candy hospital earlier this month due to respiratory complications.
Many Bollywood celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar and more shared condolences for the Deol family on social media. Taking to Instagram, Shah Rukh Khan wrote, “Rest in Peace Dharam ji. You were nothing short of a father figure to me… thank u for showering me with blessings and love the way you did. An inconsolable and irreplaceable loss to not just his family, but to cinema and film lovers world over. You are immortal… and your soul will live through your films and your beautiful family forever. Love you always.” Alongside the note, SRK shared a heartfelt click where the veteran actor is embracing him in a side hug.

Alia Bhatt shared a screengrab from her movie Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, where she is seen chatting with Dharmendra. Alia penned, “A legend who lit up every frame… and every heart. You will be missed, Dharam ji [white heart emoticon].”

Aamir Khan and Gauri Spratt were spotted together, hurrying through a flight of stairs. Aamir opted for a white kurta for the outing. Beside him, Gauri Spratt added a pop of colour in an embroidered red kurti. The two seemed pressed for time as the paparazzi and media personnel outside the venue clicked them. They rushed and quickly headed towards their car.
Aamir and Gauri have been seen stepping out together quite often. The actor had introduced Gauri to the media in March, at an informal meet-and-greet in Mumbai. The upcoming third season of Wednesday has grabbed attention due to a big casting announcement. The French actress Eva Green, known for her roles in films such as Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children and Dark Shadows, will be joining Wednesday Season 3 as Aunt Ophelia, the long-absent sister of Morticia Addams.
 
This marks Green’s return to a project under the direction of Tim Burton and introduces a new element to the Addams Family story. The show’s creators, Al Gough and Miles Millar, said, “Eva Green has always brought an exhilarating, singular presence to the screen, elegant, haunting, and beautifully unpredictable. Those qualities make her the perfect choice for Aunt Ophelia.”

Green also expressed her excitement, saying, “I’m thrilled to join the woefully twisted world of Wednesday as Aunt Ophelia. This show is such a deliciously dark and witty world, I can’t wait to bring my own touch of cuckoo-ness to the Addams family.”
 
Aunt Ophelia was referenced throughout Season 2 but her full appearance was not revealed. Viewers caught a brief glimpse of her in the final episode, from behind, wearing a flower crown and writing the words “Wednesday must die” on a wall. In the story, Morticia describes her sister as having gone missing after losing control of her powers as a Raven. This connects with Wednesday’s own challenges in managing her psychic abilities, which caused black tears in Season 2.
 
The Season 2 finale concluded with Morticia giving Wednesday Ophelia’s old journal, which eventually triggered a vision of Ophelia locked in a dark room inside Grandmama Hester’s mansion. Millar explained that Ophelia’s disappearance has created a void in Morticia’s life and many unresolved questions, further stating that her return is expected to hugely impact this family. Gough said that her introduction was always intended to be surprising and to directly set the stage for Season 3.
 
The main cast also includes Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, and Moosa Mostafa among others.
