Amidst the positive response for his recent film, Farhan Akhtar has given an exclusive and much-awaited update on his next big project, the third part of the iconic Don franchise, starring Ranveer Singh. In an exclusive chat with Filmfare, Farhan was asked about the much-talked-about film and if he had any updates to share with the fans. Putting all rumours to rest, he confirmed the timeline for the film’s filming.

He said, “We start filming next year. That’s probably the biggest update that I can give you.” This confirmation will certainly make the fans happy who have been following the news about Don 3 ever since the casting of Ranveer Singh was announced. The news about a new Don has led to a huge wave of different reactions across social media.
On one side, many fans still feel a strong connection to Shah Rukh Khan, who played the lead role in Don (2006) and Don 2 (2011), both of which were directed by Farhan Akhtar. Shah Rukh Khan’s performance as the charming and ruthless criminal became a fan favourite, and there has been a continuous wish for him to reprise the much-loved role.
On the other hand, there is a large section of the audience that is excited to see the vibrant and versatile Ranveer Singh step into the shoes of this iconic character. The character of Don holds a very special place in Hindi cinema, having been first played by superstar Amitabh Bachchan, and then redefined by Shah Rukh Khan. Now, with Ranveer Singh taking on the mantle, fans are eager to see what new style and energy he will bring to the role. Ranveer is known for his ability to transform completely for a character, and the hope is that he will create a memorable new Don that honours the legacy and offers something fresh at the same time.
