Even ahead of its theatrical debut, Toxic has begun reshaping pre-release business benchmarks. The Yash-led project first drew industry-wide attention after becoming the first non-Telugu film to secure a ₹120 crore distribution agreement in the Andhra Pradesh–Telangana market with Sri Venkateswara Creations, headed by Dil Raju—an unprecedented deal that signalled strong exhibitor and distributor confidence well before launch.
The film has now added another major milestone on the international front, with overseas distribution rights acquired by Phars Film, one of the most dominant players in the global Indian cinema market. The overseas agreement is being described within trade circles as among the highest-ever for an Indian film, with ₹105 crore secured as advance on a commission basis. Notably, the deal covers only the Indian-language versions—Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam—and excludes the English version, underlining the film’s standalone overseas appeal in Indian languages.
Trade analysts point out that the scale of the deal reflects strong ground-level buzz around the project and its leading star Yash, despite the absence of a teaser or trailer so far.
The confidence in Toxic is partly rooted in Yash’s previous global performance. KGF: Chapter 2 went on to post historic numbers across international markets, emerging as the highest-grossing Indian film in the GCC region and delivering record-breaking results in multiple overseas territories—setting a high benchmark for his follow-up.
The makers are now planning what is being positioned as the widest international rollout ever for an Indian film, with releases scheduled across most global territories, excluding Nepal, Japan, and China.
Commenting on the overseas association, Mr Ahmad Golchin, CEO & Founder of Phars Films, said, “With Toxic, our goal was to tell a story that resonates beyond borders. We are proud to bring this film to international audiences and to see its themes connect across cultures. This overseas release marks an important milestone for Phars Film, and we’re excited for viewers worldwide to experience the intensity and emotional depth of Toxic.”
Venkat K. Narayana of KVN Productions added, “Toxic has been envisioned as a film that speaks a universal cinematic language, and for a vision of this scale, we needed a partner with extraordinary global strength and credibility. Phars Films has consistently demonstrated an unparalleled ability to position Indian cinema powerfully across international markets, and we are proud to join hands with them for what is truly a landmark overseas distribution deal. With their expansive reach and strategic expertise, we are confident that Toxic will open to audiences worldwide with the scale, impact, and momentum it deserves, setting new benchmarks for global releases from Indian cinema.”
With a record-setting AP–TG deal, a ₹105 crore overseas acquisition, and the international track record of KGF: Chapter 2 behind it, Toxic is being positioned as a major global theatrical event well ahead of release. Industry observers note that the film’s scale, international planning, and early business indicators place it among the most ambitious Indian projects currently in production.
Written by Yash and Geetu Mohandas and directed by Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups has been simultaneously shot in Kannada and English, with dubbed versions planned in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and additional languages. The film features a high-profile technical team, including National Award-winning cinematographer Rajeev Ravi, music composer Ravi Basrur, editor Ujwal Kulkarni, and production designer TP Abid.
