Actor Yash led Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, has become embroiled in a legal controversy shortly after the release of its first teaser. Social activist Dinesh Kallahalli has lodged a formal complaint with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), raising objections to what he describes as “obscene, sexually explicit, and morally offensive scenes” in the teaser.
Social Activist Files Complaint Over Obscene Scenes In Yash Led Toxic Teaser
In the complaint addressed to CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi, Kallahalli contended that the teaser contains “scenes that are grossly obscene, s*xually explicit, and vulgar in nature.” He further claimed that the trailer is being widely circulated across various social media platforms without adequate restrictions, thereby exposing the public—especially minors and young viewers—to content that is legally impermissible and socially harmful.
The activist argued that the teaser violates constitutional rights related to freedom of speech and expression. They stated, “The content displayed in the trailer of ‘TOXIC’ clearly exceeds these constitutional limits and therefore does not merit any constitutional protection. The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India has consistently held that obscenity and sexually explicit material are not protected forms of expression.”
He also cited provisions under the Cinematograph Act, 1952, the Certification of Films Rules, and CBFC guidelines, emphasising that films, trailers, and promotional materials must adhere to standards of decency, morality, and social responsibility.
In light of these concerns, Kallahalli urged the CBFC to review the trailer, remove the offending scenes, and restrict its circulation. He also called for legal and regulatory action against the film’s director, producers, and involved parties. “The present representation requires urgent attention, as the issue concerns public morality, the protection of minors, and the rule of law,” he added. The filmmakers have yet to respond to the complaint.
