Actor Trisha Krishnan has once again found herself at the centre of intense public attention, with her personal life dominating headlines following a recent public appearance alongside actor-politician Vijay. The two were spotted making a joint entry at a wedding reception in Chennai on March 5, sparking widespread speculation about their relationship on social media.
The event was the wedding reception of the son of film producer Kalpathi S. Suresh and Meenakshi Suresh, held in the city’s film industry circles. Photos and videos from the evening quickly went viral online, with fans and netizens discussing the apparent closeness between the two popular stars.
The buzz intensified because the appearance came just days after reports emerged that Vijay’s wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, had filed for divorce in December 2025. The news reportedly became public on February 27, prompting a fresh wave of discussions about Vijay’s personal life.
Amid the ongoing speculation, attention has also turned back to a significant chapter in Trisha’s past — her broken engagement in 2015. At that time, the actress had announced her engagement to Chennai-based businessman Varun Manian. The announcement had created excitement among fans, but the engagement was called off just a few months later.
Rumours circulated widely about the reasons behind the sudden split. Trisha later confirmed her single status through a brief message on social media, addressing the speculation surrounding her personal life.
“Amused by the hazaar speculations doing the rounds, let it rest people. Happy, single and thankful,” she wrote in a tweet at the time.
In a later interview, the actress opened up more candidly about why she decided to end the engagement. According to Trisha, the person she was supposed to marry had asked her to step away from acting after marriage. For the actress, who has been deeply committed to her career, this was a condition she was not willing to accept.
“That’s why my wedding was called off. The person I was supposed to marry asked me to stop acting. Instead of films, I chose to put a full stop to my engagement,” she explained. Trisha also emphasised that her passion for cinema remained strong and that she had no intention of leaving the industry.
“I will only take a break when I get pregnant. If I am not offered lead roles, I will do characters that suit my image but I won’t move away from the film industry. My wish is to act until my last breath,” she said in the interview.
Recently, Trisha also responded strongly to remarks made about her during a public event. On Sunday, she took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her displeasure after her name and photo were shown at an event without prior information.
“I was informed by the organisers of a recent event that my name and picture were included at the last minute at the request of an individual conveyed through his assistant,” she wrote.

Without naming anyone directly, Trisha also criticised the comments made during the event. “A microphone doesn’t make a comment intelligent or humorous. It just makes stupidity louder. Crude words without knowledge say more about the speaker than the person they’re aimed at,” she added.
Her response came after filmmaker-actor R. Parthiban made remarks about her during the Galatta Awards. During a segment where he was asked about actors he had worked with, a picture of Trisha appeared on the screen. Instead of mentioning her name, Parthiban referred to her by her character’s name “Kundavai,” from the blockbuster film Ponniyin Selvan: I, and jokingly said she should be “kept at home for a few days.”
Meanwhile, Trisha and Vijay remain one of the most beloved on-screen pairs in Tamil cinema. Their collaborations in films such as Ghilli, Thirupaachi, Aathi, and Kuruvi have been widely appreciated by audiences.
After a gap of nearly 15 years, the duo reunited on screen in Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, which further revived interest in their pairing.
Despite the ongoing rumours and online chatter, neither Vijay nor Trisha has commented publicly about their relationship. Meanwhile, Vijay’s personal life has also drawn attention due to his political ambitions through his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, as he prepares to play a bigger role in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
For now, speculation continues to swirl online, while both stars remain focused on their professional commitments.
