It’s official — actor Sreeleela has added a new prefix to her name. After six demanding years of balancing medical studies with a flourishing film career, she has graduated from DY Patil University in Mumbai. With her degree now in hand, fans can proudly call her Dr Sreeleela.
The young star took to Instagram to share glimpses from her convocation ceremony. Dressed in her graduation robe, she posed with her family and batchmates, radiating joy and pride. Among the photos was also a nostalgic throwback from her college days, capturing candid moments with friends on campus. The images reflected not just academic success but the culmination of years of quiet determination and hard work behind the scenes.
In a heartfelt note accompanying the pictures, Sreeleela reflected on her journey. She described her college as a “sacred space” and a serene escape from the glamorous façade of cinema — a place where she could simply be herself. “A milestone. A journey — one that you were a part of, knowingly or unknowingly… Your girl kept her promise,” she wrote, hinting at the commitment she had made to complete her medical education despite her busy schedule.
She emphasized that the achievement was more than just earning a degree. For her, it symbolized growth, resilience, faith, and transformation. Expressing gratitude to her family, friends, and colleagues from the film industry, she thanked them for adjusting schedules around her exams and supporting her during stressful periods. “To everyone who believed in me when I was still learning to believe in myself… thank you,” she added.
Addressing her fans directly, she wrote, “Dear reader, I’m grateful for you… This chapter shaped me. It humbled me. It strengthened me. So let me reintroduce myself to you. Yours lovingly, Dr. Sreeleela.” The message resonated strongly with her followers, many of whom praised her dedication and discipline.
Born in 2001 in Detroit, USA, to a Telugu family, Sreeleela was raised in Bengaluru. Her mother, Swarnalatha, is a practicing gynaecologist, and it appears that her medical aspirations were influenced by her upbringing. Despite stepping into cinema at a young age, Sreeleela never gave up on her academic ambitions.
She made her acting debut in the Telugu film Chitrangada in 2017, portraying the younger version of a character. However, her first film as a leading lady was the Kannada romantic drama Kiss, which brought her significant recognition. She entered mainstream Telugu cinema with Pelli SandaD, marking the beginning of a rapid rise in the industry.
Since then, she has starred in several commercial successes, including Dhamaka, Bhagavanth Kesari, and Guntur Kaaram, sharing screen space with leading stars. She also appeared in a special number in Pushpa 2: The Rule, further expanding her popularity.
In 2025, she continued her streak with films like Robinhood, Junior, and Mass Jathara. Most recently, audiences saw her in Parasakthi alongside Sivakarthikeyan and Ravi Mohan.
Looking ahead, Sreeleela has an exciting lineup. She is set to star in a musical romance with Kartik Aaryan, as well as an upcoming film headlined by Dhanush, which also features Sai Pallavi. Additionally, she will appear in Ustaad Bhagat Singh opposite Pawan Kalyan.
With a stethoscope in one hand and scripts in the other, Dr Sreeleela has proven that dreams need not be limited to one path. Her journey stands as an inspiring testament to perseverance and balance.
