Television actor Dipika Kakar recently spoke about the emotional and physical challenges she continues to face following serious health issues. In a vlog shared by her husband, Shoaib Ibrahim, the couple discussed Dipika’s recovery process after undergoing a medical procedure to treat a cyst that had reappeared near her liver. The conversation provided insight into the changes she has had to make in her daily routine as well as the anxiety she still experiences regarding her health.
During the vlog, Shoaib explained that Dipika has adopted a structured lifestyle as part of her recovery. According to him, her doctors have advised her to follow a disciplined schedule and maintain a strict diet. As a result, she now wakes up early in the morning, around 7 a.m., and begins her day with a walk. Her routine also includes restrictions on food intake, particularly avoiding meals after 7 p.m. Shoaib mentioned that these lifestyle adjustments are meant to support her healing process and help her maintain better overall health following the medical procedures she has undergone.
Shoaib also spoke about how he has been encouraging Dipika to avoid overexerting herself. At one point during the vlog, he stopped her from entering the kitchen to film a cooking video for her audience, explaining that she should not strain herself while she is still recovering. Dipika has frequently shared cooking and lifestyle content with her viewers in the past, but Shoaib emphasised that rest and recovery should remain her priority for the time being.
The discussion took an emotional turn when Shoaib mentioned that Dipika would soon need to undergo follow-up medical tests after the festival of Eid al-Fitr. These tests will reportedly include AFP and other blood reports that doctors use to monitor her health after the recent procedure. Shoaib explained that this will be the first set of medical tests conducted since her latest treatment, making it an important moment in evaluating her recovery. The mention of these upcoming reports visibly affected Dipika, who became emotional while talking about the uncertainty surrounding her health.
According to Shoaib, one of the most difficult aspects of this period has been the emotional impact of staying inactive. Dipika has spent much of her time resting, and the limited activity sometimes makes her feel low. He added that even though the couple tries to maintain a positive outlook, the possibility of health complications occasionally leads to moments of fear and worry.
Dipika herself spoke candidly about how the experience has changed her mindset. She admitted that the health scare has left her feeling anxious, particularly when thinking about future test results. The actress explained that after undergoing such serious medical treatment, it becomes difficult to completely remove the fear of recurrence. She shared that although people around her encourage her to remain hopeful and maintain faith, the fear sometimes resurfaces in quiet moments.
Her health journey began in May last year when she was diagnosed with Liver cancer at stage two. The diagnosis required immediate and significant medical intervention. Dipika underwent a major surgery during which doctors removed approximately 22 percent of her liver along with a large tumour. Following the surgery, she continued treatment through targeted therapy, a method often used to prevent the spread or return of cancer cells.
More recently, doctors detected a 1.3-centimetre cyst in her liver, which led to another medical procedure. Although the cyst was addressed, it added to the emotional strain of an already difficult recovery period. Despite these challenges, Dipika has continued to communicate with her audience through YouTube vlogs, offering updates about her health and recovery.
Through these updates, both Dipika and Shoaib have tried to remain transparent about the reality of dealing with serious health issues. While they often attempt to maintain a positive tone in their videos, they have acknowledged that moments of fear and vulnerability are a natural part of the recovery journey.
