Composer and indie music star Sai Abhyankkar has unveiled the promo for his next independent single, Pavazha Malli. The brief teaser offers a sneak peek into the upcoming track, which is slated to release in full on March 5 at 7 pm.
The promo hints at a celebratory tone, suggesting that the song is designed around a wedding theme. It also includes a fleeting appearance by a female lead who appears to be actor Kayadu Lohar, known for her role in Dragon. While the makers have not officially confirmed her involvement, the glimpse strongly resembles the actor.
Adding further intrigue to the project is the presence of Shruti Haasan, who has lent her voice to the track. The collaboration brings together two musicians from different creative spaces, with Haasan’s distinctive vocals expected to add a unique texture to Abhyankkar’s composition.
Building an indie catalogue of viral hits
Pavazha Malli marks Abhyankkar’s fifth independent single and follows a string of releases that have helped him build a loyal digital audience. His first independent track, Katchi Sera, introduced listeners to his pop-driven sound and featured Samyuktha Viswanathan in the music video.
He followed that with Aasa Kooda, starring Preity Mukhundhan. The track quickly found traction across streaming platforms and social media, particularly on Instagram reels, where it became widely used in short-form videos. Its catchy melody and youthful energy helped solidify Abhyankkar’s reputation as a composer capable of delivering viral music.
The musician continued the streak with Sithira Puthiri, a collaboration with actor Meenakshi Chaudhary. Soon after came Vizhi Veekura, a visually vibrant single featuring Abhyankkar himself alongside Saanve Megghana. Shot in a sunflower garden, the track leaned into a colourful and romantic aesthetic that complemented the composer’s melodic style.
Each of these releases has contributed to Abhyankkar’s growing identity in the indie music space, where he blends visually appealing music videos with easy-to-listen pop compositions.

Juggling indie music and film work
While Abhyankkar has been steadily expanding his presence in the independent music circuit, he has also been making inroads into film music. The young composer made his film debut last year with the Malayalam project Balti and the Tamil film Dude.
The soundtrack of Dude received notable attention, particularly the song Oorum Blood. The track turned into a viral hit online and has since crossed 100 million views on YouTube, highlighting Abhyankkar’s growing reach among younger audiences.
Despite stepping into the film industry, the composer has continued to release independent singles alongside his movie commitments. This dual approach has allowed him to maintain creative freedom in the indie space while simultaneously building a career in mainstream cinema.
With Pavazha Malli, Abhyankkar appears to be returning to the festive and romantic tone that has worked well for him in the past. The wedding-song concept, combined with Shruti Haasan’s vocals and the possible presence of Kayadu Lohar in the video, hints at a lively track that could resonate with listeners online. Fans will get to hear the full song when Pavazha Malli releases on March 5 at 7 pm.
