A woman was taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department after gunshots were fired outside a home believed to belong to global music star Rihanna in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon. Authorities confirmed that no one was injured in the incident, though the situation prompted a swift police response.
According to police officials, officers received a report of shots fired at approximately 1:15 p.m. in the upscale Beverly Hills area. Responding officers quickly arrived at the scene to investigate the situation.
Officer Charles Miller of the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed on Monday that a 35-year-old woman was later taken into custody in connection with the incident. Police said the suspect was detained “without further incident,” meaning there was no further confrontation during the arrest. Investigators also recovered a weapon believed to have been used during the shooting.
Authorities stated that the woman has been booked on suspicion of attempted murder. She is currently being held in jail with bail set at $10 million. As of now, the district attorney’s office has not formally announced charges related to the case, and the investigation remains ongoing.
While the police statement did not officially confirm the identity of the homeowner, several local media outlets reported that the property belongs to Rihanna. Public property records show that the residence is owned by a trust managed by Evan Jehle, who serves on the advisory board for the Clara Lionel Foundation, Rihanna’s philanthropic organization.
Journalists attempted to contact representatives for Rihanna following the incident. Emails were reportedly sent to the singer’s publicist and manager seeking comments, though no public response had been issued at the time of reporting.
Television station KABC-TV aired footage from outside the property that appeared to show several bullet holes in the front gate of the home. The images suggested that multiple shots had been fired directly toward the entrance.
Audio obtained by KABC-TV from police dispatch communications revealed that the responding officers were alerted to a serious situation. In the recording, a dispatcher can be heard saying, “Shooting just occurred. Ten gunshots fired from the vehicle.” Authorities later confirmed that the gunfire appeared to have been fired from across the street from the property.
Police have not yet revealed whether the suspect had any personal connection to Rihanna. It also remains unclear whether the singer herself was at home when the incident occurred. Officials have not released additional details about what may have motivated the shooting.
