Few luxury watch models have a historical significance rivaling the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch, the first timepiece to visit the moon. Consequently, each new variant to join the Moonwatch family is a cause for scrutiny and celebration among luxury watch enthusiasts, many of whom had already taken note of this particular Speedy before the official reveal when it appeared upon Euphoria star Colman Domingo’s wrist at the 2025 Met Gala.
The Speedmaster Moonwatch “Black and White” has already been nicknamed the “Reverse Panda” in reference to its gloss-black ceramic bezel and dial paired with white chronograph subdials, an inversion of the “Panda” scheme made popular by the Rolex Daytona. It retains the Moonwatch’s signature step dial comprised of a double plate—the top plate for the dial, the base plate for the subdials.
The 42mm watches are distinguished by gold or steel cases that are material-matched to bracelets featuring OMEGA’s patented comfort-release adjustment system. On the stainless steel version, the hands and hour markers are rhodium-plated, the minute track is marked in white on the main dial, the minute and second tracks on the subdials appear in black, and the tachymeter scale is filled with white enamel. The gold version maintains a similar scheme, but its hour markers and hands—including the main chronograph seconds hand—all appear in gold.
Both are powered by the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861, the most advanced evolution of the famous Calibre 321 that NASA astronauts trusted to keep time on the Apollo missions to the moon.
Not only do the black-and-white Speedmaster Moonwatch models mark the first time that a “Reverse Panda” scheme has joined the fabled model’s regular lineup, this is also the first time that a stainless steel Speedmaster has crossed the five-figure threshold to $10,400.
