Netflix has officially announced Talaash: A Mother’s Search, a gripping mystery thriller series headlined by Parineeti Chopra, as part of its content slate unveiled on February 3. Slated for release in 2026, the series promises a haunting blend of suspense, emotional depth, and psychological intrigue, placing motherhood and belief at the heart of its narrative.
Talaash: A Mother’s Search follows the harrowing journey of a mother whose life is frozen in grief after her child is abducted. Each year, she receives anonymous photographs of her missing child—silent reminders that keep hope alive while deepening her torment. Nearly nine years after the disappearance, her obsessive search for answers intensifies, pushing her into a maze of half-truths, suppressed memories, and unsettling revelations. As she inches closer to the truth, she is forced to confront a devastating possibility: the answers she seeks may not be hidden somewhere far away, but buried within the secrets of those closest to her.
Positioned as a kidnapping drama told with emotional restraint, the series steers away from sensational twists and shock-driven storytelling. Instead, Talaash relies on layered performances and psychological tension to unravel its mystery, allowing character motivations and relationships to drive the narrative forward.
The series is created by Rensil D’Silva and Siddharth P. Malhotra, with D’Silva also taking on the role of director. The writing team includes Rensil D’Silva, Riva Razdan, Hussain Dalal, and Abbas Dalal, with acclaimed lyricist and writer Kausar Munir serving as consulting writer, further enriching the emotional and thematic depth of the show.
