Kriti Sanon is stepping into 2026 with clarity and confidence, choosing excitement over pressure as she gears up for her next big release, Cocktail 2. In a recent interaction with Hindustan Times, the actor spoke candidly about expectations following the success of her previous film and why she consciously avoids letting box office comparisons affect her creative choices.
Reacting to Cocktail 2 being her 20th film, Kriti said, “Is it?! I always miss out (on such milestones), thank you for letting me know!” Addressing whether the success of her last film places added pressure on her upcoming projects, she was quick to dismiss the notion. “No, I don’t take that pressure. Every film is so different, you cannot expect everything to kind of pull the same kind of audiences.”
Elaborating on her mindset as an actor, Kriti highlighted how each film caters to a distinct audience and must be approached on its own terms. “Cocktail 2 has a very different audience from TIM (Tere Ishk Mein). All you can do is work hard, and with all your honesty. You need to give every film your best. Everything beyond that is not in our hands, because there are so many other factors that affect the fate of a film at the box office. So I don’t want to take that pressure. I don’t give that pressure to my filmmakers too. Rather, I just enjoy the process. I am excited.”
Cocktail 2 marks Kriti’s collaboration with director Homi Adajania and sees her reuniting with Shahid Kapoor after their film Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna, who will be working with Kriti, Shahid and Homi for the first time. The casting has already generated buzz, with audiences eager to see the dynamic between the three actors.
Reports suggest that Cocktail 2 will feature an entirely new storyline with fresh characters, positioning it as a spiritual successor rather than a direct continuation of the 2012 hit Cocktail. The original film starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty, and has since gained cult status among audiences.
With a promising lineup and a grounded outlook, Kriti Sanon appears ready to embrace 2026 with optimism. As she looks forward to Cocktail 2, the actor’s focus remains firmly on enjoying the journey—one film at a time.
