Kiara Advani Not Playing Madhubala? Industry Sources Shut Down Viral Biopic Rumours

Actor Kiara Advani recently found herself at the centre of speculation after reports surfaced claiming that she had been cast to play legendary actor Madhubala in a biographical film reportedly backed by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The rumours quickly spread across social media and entertainment news platforms, drawing attention from fans of both the contemporary star and the iconic figure from Indian cinema’s golden era. However, recent updates from industry sources have clarified that the claims linking Kiara Advani to a Madhubala biopic are inaccurate.

According to people familiar with the matter, there is currently no such project in development involving Kiara Advani in the role of Madhubala. Sources have dismissed the circulating reports as baseless and speculative. One industry insider reportedly stated that the rumours have no factual basis and that Kiara has not been approached for any biographical project related to the legendary actor. The clarification comes after widespread curiosity about the possibility of a modern Bollywood star portraying one of the most celebrated figures in the history of Indian cinema.

The speculation initially gained traction because of Madhubala’s enduring legacy and the frequent discussions about potential films exploring her life story. Madhubala remains one of the most iconic actresses in Hindi cinema, remembered for her performances in classic films and her distinctive screen presence. Over the years, several filmmakers and production houses have been linked to potential projects based on her life, though few have progressed beyond the early stages of discussion. As a result, any report suggesting a new biopic often attracts significant attention from audiences and industry observers.

Despite the recent rumours, sources have reiterated that no such casting decision involving Kiara Advani has been made. They have also indicated that the claims connecting Sanjay Leela Bhansali to the project in this context are unfounded. The reports appear to have emerged without confirmation from the actor, the filmmaker or any official production announcement. For now, the supposed Madhubala biopic remains purely speculative, and there is no verified information suggesting that such a film is currently in active development.

While the rumours about the biopic have been addressed, Kiara Advani is preparing for the release of her upcoming project Toxic, which also stars actor Yash. The film has been generating considerable interest among audiences due to its scale and the involvement of several well-known creative collaborators. However, recent developments related to the film’s promotional schedule and release date have led to changes in its rollout plans.

The makers had originally planned to launch the trailer for Toxic at a special event in Bengaluru on March 8. This event was expected to be a major promotional milestone for the film ahead of its theatrical release. However, the trailer launch has now been cancelled following a decision by the producers to postpone the film’s release. In an official statement, the production team informed media representatives that the event would not take place as originally scheduled because the release date had been moved.

Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups was initially set to premiere worldwide on March 19, 2026. The film’s producers, KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, have now rescheduled its release to June 4, 2026. According to the statement issued by the makers, the delay was implemented due to the ongoing geopolitical tensions and regional instability affecting parts of the Middle East. The Gulf region represents an important international market for many Indian films, and the current situation has reportedly disrupted cinema operations in several territories.

The decision to postpone the film’s release was also influenced by recommendations from one of its major distributors, Phars Films. Given the scale of the project and its planned multi-language global rollout, the producers chose to adjust the release schedule in order to ensure smoother distribution in key markets. By shifting the release to June, the film is expected to reach audiences under more stable circumstances.

Another outcome of the new release date is that Toxic will no longer clash with Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film Dhurandhar 2, which is scheduled to release in March. Avoiding this box office clash may allow both films to perform independently during their respective release windows.

For now, Kiara Advani’s immediate focus remains on her upcoming projects rather than the rumours surrounding the Madhubala biopic. As industry sources have clarified, the reports linking her to the legendary actor’s life story are currently unfounded, while her next on-screen appearance will come with the release of Toxic later this year.
