Reality star Khloé Kardashian is opening up about a deeply awkward moment from her past relationship with Tristan Thompson — and it involves an unexpected musical guest.
On a recent episode of her podcast Khloé In Wonder Land, the Good American co-founder shared the story of a grand romantic gesture that completely missed the mark. Thompson once arranged for R&B singer Giveon to perform live at her home — but instead of melting her heart, the moment left her feeling irritated and uncomfortable.
The incident occurred years ago, before the birth of their son Tatum, when the former couple were still together and raising their daughter True. Kardashian recalled being in the backyard of her previous home when Thompson asked her to step outside.
To her surprise, Giveon was there, performing a live serenade.
While many might consider such a gesture romantic, Kardashian admitted she wasn’t in the mood to be charmed. At the time, tensions between the two were already high.
“I remember I hated Tristan and I was like, ‘Why are you doing this?’” she confessed candidly on the podcast.
As Giveon continued singing, Thompson attempted to sit close to her — but she quickly created distance. Kardashian even brought daughter True outside, explaining that she needed a buffer.
“I just needed a third person to get away from Tristan,” she said, describing the situation as “mortifying.”
Despite the tension between her and Thompson, Kardashian praised Giveon for maintaining his professionalism throughout the awkward moment.
“He didn’t break his song at all. He was so great. I love him. But how awkward for him, poor guy,” she added with a laugh.
Kardashian and Thompson were in an on-and-off relationship from 2016 to 2021 and share two children — True, 7, and Tatum, 3.
Since their split, Kardashian has focused on her personal growth and motherhood. During the Season 7 premiere of The Kardashians, she revealed she has remained single and hasn’t been intimate in over three years.
“I love being 40,” she said, emphasizing that she feels happiest prioritizing her children.
On a January podcast episode, she reiterated that dating is no longer a priority.
“My focus is just my kids,” she shared. “To me, I think it’s the smartest thing.”
Looking back, Kardashian’s story shows how her outlook — and priorities — have shifted over time.
