Yash is gearing up for one of the most anticipated films of the year, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. The project has generated significant excitement among fans ever since its announcement. While the film was earlier scheduled to release in 2025, the makers had later confirmed a March 2026 theatrical debut. However, the release plan has now changed once again, with the film being pushed to June due to global circumstances.
The makers had previously revealed that Toxic would arrive in cinemas on March 19, 2026. The announcement was made on Yash’s 39th birthday in January last year, which further heightened fan enthusiasm around the project. At the time, the date announcement came before filmmaker Aditya Dhar locked the same date for his upcoming film Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh.
With both films reportedly eyeing the same release window, speculation about a major box office clash quickly spread online. The rumours also suggested that Yash was unhappy with the makers of Dhurandhar for scheduling their film around the same time as Toxic. Fans began debating which film would dominate the box office, further fueling the narrative of rivalry between the two projects.
However, recent reports indicate that these claims were largely exaggerated. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the speculation about Yash being upset with the Dhurandhar team was unfounded. Sources close to the development have stated that the actor actually liked the first installment of the film and is excited to see its sequel.
An insider revealed that the perceived rivalry between the two films was created by external chatter rather than any real conflict between the teams. The source said that Yash has no issue with the release plans of Dhurandhar and is genuinely interested in watching the sequel once it arrives in theatres.
“All the rivalry, anxiety and competitiveness is created by outsiders desirous of juicing the so-called competition between the two films,” the source reportedly said. According to the insider, Yash enjoyed Dhurandhar and is looking forward to watching its second installment.
Meanwhile, the change in Toxic’s release date has nothing to do with box office competition. Instead, the decision was taken due to the current geopolitical tensions in parts of the Middle East and Gulf region. The makers reportedly wanted to ensure that the film reaches the widest possible international audience without disruptions.
Last week, Yash personally addressed the situation through a statement shared on his official social media platforms. In the message, he explained the reasoning behind postponing the film’s release and emphasized the team’s commitment to delivering the movie to global audiences under the best possible circumstances.
Yash wrote that Toxic was conceived as a film designed for international audiences and was created with the vision of reaching viewers across different countries and cultures. He also highlighted that the film has been shot in both Kannada and English to strengthen its global appeal.
“Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups is a film we conceptualized with the vision to create cinema for a global audience,” he said in the statement. “Filmed in Kannada and English, it is built with the conviction to connect with viewers both at home and across the world.”
The actor added that the team had initially been excited to share the film with audiences on March 19, but the ongoing uncertainty in the Middle East created challenges that could affect the film’s global distribution and outreach.
As a result, the makers made what Yash described as a “difficult but carefully considered decision” to postpone the release. He also thanked fans for their patience and support while assuring them that the wait would be worthwhile.
“Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups will now be released in cinemas across the globe in English and Indian languages on 4th June 2026,” Yash confirmed in his statement.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film features a star-studded cast including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi and Tara Sutaria. With its ambitious scale and global vision, Toxic continues to be one of the most awaited films in Indian cinema.
