Filmmaker Sriram Raghavan launched 2026 by exploring the war genre with Ikkis, a biographical drama based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee. The film, starring Agastya Nanda and featuring Dharmendra in his final on-screen role alongside Jaideep Ahlawat, was released on January 1 and received a steady opening at the box office.

On its opening day, Ikkis grossed Rs 7.28 crore. According to sources close to the production team, the film earned Rs 4.02 crore on its second day, bringing its total domestic net collection to Rs 11.30 crore in the first two days.

The film’s second-day occupancy was 14.72 per cent overall, with morning shows at 5.75 per cent, which increased to 14.73 per cent in the afternoon. Evening occupancy stood at 18.06 per cent, slightly rising to 20.33 per cent during night shows. Currently, Ikkis is being screened across more than 2,400 shows, while Dhurandhar continues to dominate screens with approximately 3,800 shows.
About Ikkis
Ikkis is based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, one of India’s most celebrated war heroes. The film tells the story of his exceptional courage during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War. Arun Khetarpal was the youngest Indian Army officer to be awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military honour, which he received posthumously. His bravery continues to be remembered and respected even today.
The film is produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films and is written by Sriram Raghavan along with Pooja Ladha Surti and Arijit Biswas. Apart from Agastya Nanda and Dharmendra, the film also features Jaideep Ahlawat, Rahul Dev, Sikandar Kher, Vivaan Shah, Deepak Dobriyal, and Simar Bhatia in key roles.
