Ajay Devgn joined countless members of the film fraternity in mourning the loss of veteran actor Dharmendra, who passed away on November 24 at the age of 89. The actor, who died at his Mumbai residence just days before his 90th birthday, had been discharged from Breach Candy Hospital earlier this month after experiencing breathlessness.
Sharing his grief on Instagram Stories, Devgn wrote, “Heartbroken to hear about Dharam ji. His warmth, generosity and presence inspired generations of artists. The industry has lost a legend… and we’ve lost someone who shaped the very soul of our cinema. Rest in peace, Dharam ji. Om Shanti.”
Dharmendra’s passing has left the industry united in sorrow. Known widely as Bollywood’s original action hero, his influence spans decades, with a legacy defined by charm, versatility, and a deep connection with audiences across generations. Tributes have been pouring in from colleagues and admirers. Akshay Kumar remembered him as “the hero every boy wanted to be,” while Karan Johar described him as “a mega star… but mostly the best human being,” noting the irreplaceable void his death leaves behind.
Dharmendra was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. In a poignant coincidence, hours before news of his demise surfaced, Maddock Films unveiled his character poster from their upcoming project Ikkis.
