The campaign for one of 2026’s biggest Hindi film events officially began this week as Jio Studios and B62 Studios unveiled the trailer of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the second instalment in filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s spy-action franchise headlined by Ranveer Singh. Mounted on a significantly larger canvas following the record-breaking success of the first film, the sequel positions itself as a spectacle designed to escalate the scale, stakes, and emotional intensity of the franchise.
The first Dhurandhar had emerged as a massive box office phenomenon, widely regarded within trade circles as one of the biggest Hindi blockbusters of its time. With Dhurandhar: The Revenge, Dhar appears intent on pushing the franchise into even more expansive territory — both narratively and in terms of cinematic scale.
The newly launched trailer offers the first glimpse of Ranveer Singh returning as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, this time in dual avatars — Jaskirat and Hamza. The footage positions Singh in a darker, more ferocious space, with the narrative leaning heavily into revenge and geopolitical intrigue.
The ensemble cast adds further heft to the franchise. R. Madhavan plays the calculating strategist Ajay Sanyal, while Arjun Rampal appears as ISI Major Iqbal, bringing a chilling antagonistic edge. Sanjay Dutt enters the narrative as SP Chaudhary Aslam, delivering a performance pitched with commanding authority.
From a trade standpoint, the trailer strongly emphasises theatrical appeal. High-octane action set pieces, stylised combat sequences, and punchy one-liners dominate the promotional material, signalling the makers’ intent to position the film as a whistle-worthy big-screen event.
Dialogues featured in the trailer lean into a provocative and confrontational tone, with lines such as:
“Hindu bahot hi darpok kaum hai.”
“Pados mein rehte hai hum.”
“Goodebhar ka zor laga lo… aur bigaad lo jo bigaad sakte ho.”
These are countered by equally charged responses within the narrative, including:
“Pakistan ka mustakbil ab Hindustan tai karega.”
The marketing language accompanying the trailer frames the sequel through the words “Honsla. Eendhan. Badla.”, underlining the revenge-driven arc at the centre of the story.
Produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar, Dhurandhar: The Revenge will release in five languages — Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, indicating a clear pan-India positioning for the franchise.
The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 19 March 2026, strategically aligned with the festive corridor of Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, and the lead-up to Eid — a window historically favourable for large-scale Hindi releases.
For the trade, the biggest question now is whether the sequel can match — or even surpass — the unprecedented commercial performance of its predecessor. If the trailer is any indication, the makers are betting heavily on scale, spectacle, and star power to turn Dhurandhar: The Revenge into one of the defining theatrical events of the year.
As the promotional tagline declares: “The Story of the Unknown Men Unfolds.”
And if the trailer’s intensity is anything to go by, the countdown to March 19 has officially begun.
