BTS Spotted in Portugal Sparks Comeback Frenzy and Wild Fan Theories

BTS has once again sent the internet into a frenzy, this time with an unexpected and low-key appearance in Portugal. The global K-pop superstars were quietly spotted arriving at an airport, instantly setting off waves of excitement among fans across social media. RM, Jin, SUGA, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook were seen exiting the terminal with their luggage, staying close to their security team and keeping a deliberately low profile.

With no official statement from the group’s agency regarding the purpose of the visit, speculation quickly began circulating among fans. Early rumours suggested that BTS may have travelled to Lisbon to film a music video. Some fan theories went even further, linking the potential track to House of the Dragon, HBO’s popular Game of Thrones prequel series. According to these claims, the song would also feature on BTS’s highly anticipated comeback album ARIRANG, which is expected to release on March 20.

Fuel was added to the speculation when a BTS fan page on X (formerly Twitter) claimed that the group was filming a “special soundtrack” for House of the Dragon in Lisbon. The post quickly gained traction, with fans connecting the dots between BTS’s surprise travel, the upcoming album, and the HBO series’ return later this year.

However, the excitement was short-lived. The fan who initially shared the claim later admitted that the information was completely fabricated. Addressing the rumour, they wrote that the story was something they “created in their head,” clarifying that there was no confirmed connection between BTS and House of the Dragon. Despite the retraction, fans largely took the moment in stride, joking that whatever BTS is actually working on in Lisbon is likely to be “even more iconic.”

The surprise Portugal appearance came just a day after Netflix dropped major news for ARMY worldwide. The streaming platform announced that it will livestream BTS’s comeback concert, ARIRANG, from Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul on March 21, marking one of the biggest live K-pop events ever hosted on the platform.

Adding to the excitement, Netflix also revealed an upcoming documentary titled BTS: THE RETURN, set to premiere on March 27. The film promises an intimate look at the group’s journey back to the stage, capturing their preparations, reflections, and reunion with fans.

With surprise travels, a global livestream concert, and a new documentary on the horizon, BTS’s return is shaping up to be nothing short of monumental.
