
Soumyadeep Guin, a well-known cinematographer in the Bengali film industry, known as “Vicky” was found hanging at his home in South Kolkata. He was 40 years old. According to an India Today report, family members discovered him in this state around 12 noon, after which the police were immediately informed. Police arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and began investigating the case. The cause of death has not yet been officially determined, but initial suspicions point to suicide. Police are investigating all angles.
Lack of work and stress worsened Soumyadeep distress
Reports say that the first investigation pointed out that Vicky was not getting as many projects as he expected. This led him to financial troubles and to suffering from stress. His neighbors allegedly reported a bad odor from the apartment which had the police breaking the door open. The state of the house gives rise to the suspicion that he was insane. Police say that long period nonworking and evergrowing stress may have been the key reason behind his mental permutation.

Investigating officers stated that they learned Soumyadeep Guin had been suffering from depression for some time. He was worried about his professional life and was constantly looking for new work. His mental condition gradually worsened. Police are also investigating whether there were any stressors in his personal life or family. Reportedly, a police officer confirmed, “We have been told he may not have been getting the kind of projects he had been expecting in recent times we are probing that angle as well. We have been told he was suffering from depression.” His sudden demise is a huge shock to his family, friends, and colleagues.
