‘Too Vulgar?’ Nora Fatehi’s ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ Faces Backlash, Bhojpuri Fans Defend Their Music

Actor-dancer Nora Fatehi has once again found herself at the centre of online debate after the release of a new dance number from the upcoming pan-India film KD. The song, titled Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke, features Nora alongside veteran actor Sanjay Dutt and was released on Sunday, quickly sparking strong reactions across social media.

While Nora is known for her high-energy dance performances and glamorous screen presence, the latest track has generated mixed to largely negative responses from viewers. Though a section of fans appreciated her dance moves and stage presence, many internet users criticised the song for its suggestive choreography and controversial lyrics.

The track is set in a lively dance bar setting where Nora performs surrounded by a large group of backup dancers. The visual aesthetic of the song is intentionally flashy, with dramatic lighting, energetic beats and stylised choreography designed to capture attention.

In the video, Nora appears dressed in a revealing ghaghra-choli ensemble, performing bold dance steps as a crowd of male characters gather around her in the scene. The promotional teaser released earlier in the week had already sparked discussion online due to the song’s hook step.

The move involves Nora repeatedly dropping and lifting her pallu in a suggestive manner while dancing. The step quickly went viral after the teaser’s release, drawing both curiosity and criticism even before the full track was unveiled.

However, when the complete lyrical video of the song was released on Sunday, viewers’ focus shifted away from the choreography and towards the song’s lyrics. Many social media users expressed shock over what they described as overtly suggestive and vulgar wording.

The opening verse of the song contains a double entendre that appears to describe an intimate act in graphic terms. As the stanza progresses, the lyrics reveal that the description is actually referring to a drink and bottle—most likely alcohol—rather than the explicit meaning suggested in the earlier lines.

Despite the twist in interpretation, many listeners felt the wording was deliberately provocative and unnecessarily explicit. Several comments on the YouTube lyrical video criticised the song for relying on crude humour and sexual innuendo.

One user described the song as “vulgarity at its peak,” while another comment called the lyrics “cheap and distasteful.” Others questioned why such content continues to appear in mainstream films despite changing audience sensibilities.

The choreography also received criticism from viewers who felt the dance moves were excessively suggestive. Some social media users expressed disbelief that such songs are still being produced in 2026, arguing that the industry should move toward more refined forms of entertainment.

A number of commenters even demanded that the song be banned, reflecting the intensity of the backlash online.

The song itself has been sung by Mangli, with lyrics written by Raqeeb Alam and music composed by Arjun Janya. Despite the criticism, the track has quickly gained attention due to the controversy surrounding it.

Actor Sanjay Dutt also appears prominently in the music video alongside Nora. His presence in the song has surprised some viewers, especially fans who had recently praised his work in the film Dhurandhar. A few fans expressed disappointment that the veteran actor chose to feature in a number that many consider questionable in taste.

The film KD itself is directed by filmmaker Prems and is positioned as a large-scale pan-India project from the Kannada film industry. However, the controversy surrounding the song has also led to criticism being directed toward the director.

Some viewers from the Kannada film community even posted sarcastic remarks online distancing themselves from the song’s style and content. Others compared the track unfavourably with music from other regional industries, claiming that even songs often criticised elsewhere appear more tasteful in comparison.

Despite the backlash, Nora Fatehi continues to remain one of the most recognisable performers for dance numbers in Indian cinema. Known for viral hits and high-octane choreography, she has built a reputation for delivering visually striking performances that often dominate online discussions.

With KD positioning itself as a major pan-India release, the controversy around Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke has undoubtedly brought additional attention to the project—though not necessarily for the reasons the makers may have hoped.

Timothée Chalamet’s Oscars Loss Who? Packs on PDA with Kylie Jenner at Vanity Fair Bash—Watch Now!

Despite being widely considered a frontrunner throughout awards season, Timothée Chalamet ultimately missed out on the Best Actor trophy at the 98th Academy Awards. The honour instead went to Michael B. Jordan for his powerful performance in the film Sinners, bringing an unexpected twist to one of the night’s most anticipated categories.

Chalamet had entered the Oscars with strong momentum after securing major wins earlier in the season. His performance in Marty Supreme had earned him both the Best Actor prize at the Golden Globe Awards and recognition at the Critics’ Choice Awards, leading many to predict he would continue the winning streak at the Academy Awards.

However, when the final envelope was opened, Jordan’s performance in Sinners emerged victorious, leaving Chalamet without the Oscar many believed he was poised to win.

Even so, the actor appeared to take the result in stride. After the ceremony, Chalamet attended the highly anticipated Vanity Fair Oscars Party, where he was joined by girlfriend Kylie Jenner. The couple drew significant attention on the red carpet, posing together for photographers and sharing affectionate moments.

Chalamet was seen holding Jenner close and planting a kiss on her cheek as they smiled for cameras, offering a rare public display of affection. Jenner attended the glamorous event wearing a sleek black dress, while Chalamet maintained his signature red carpet charm as they celebrated the evening together.

While Chalamet’s personal life grabbed headlines at the after-party, his film Marty Supreme experienced a disappointing night overall. The movie failed to secure wins in several major categories, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Casting.

Instead, those honours were dominated by the critically acclaimed film One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. The film proved to be one of the biggest winners of the night, sweeping several key categories and solidifying its place as the standout production of the year.

For Chalamet, the nomination still marked another milestone in his rapidly evolving career. The actor has now received multiple Oscar nominations in the Best Actor category. This year’s nod followed his nomination last year for A Complete Unknown, making it his second consecutive appearance in the category.

Chalamet first earned Academy recognition for his breakout performance in the critically acclaimed film Call Me By Your Name, which catapulted him into international stardom and established him as one of Hollywood’s most promising young actors.

However, the weeks leading up to the Oscars were not without controversy for the star. Chalamet recently faced criticism over comments he made about classical art forms such as opera and ballet during a promotional event.

During the conversation, the actor remarked that he did not see himself working in those fields, suggesting they struggle to attract modern audiences. His comments sparked backlash online and drew criticism from fans and artists within the performing arts community.

“I don’t want to be working in ballet, or opera, or things where it’s like, ‘Hey, keep this thing alive, even though like no one cares about this anymore,’” Chalamet said at the event, adding that he meant no disrespect to artists in those fields.

The remarks quickly circulated across social media, prompting reactions from several prominent figures. Actor Jamie Lee Curtis responded by reposting a reel that criticised Chalamet’s stance on the value of classical art forms.

Meanwhile, institutions within the opera world also responded. Royal Ballet and Opera in London extended a lighthearted invitation to the actor via Instagram, encouraging him to attend a performance. Similarly, English National Opera invited him to experience their productions firsthand.

The controversy even found its way into the Oscars ceremony itself. Host Conan O’Brien jokingly referenced the debate during his opening monologue.

“Security is extremely tight tonight,” O’Brien quipped during the broadcast. “I’m told there are concerns about attacks from both the opera and ballet communities.”

Despite the swirling conversation surrounding his remarks and his Oscar loss, Chalamet’s appearance at the Vanity Fair party suggested the actor was enjoying the evening nonetheless. Surrounded by industry peers and accompanied by Jenner, the star ended the night on a celebratory note—proving that even without a trophy in hand, the spotlight remained firmly on him.

Guess Who’s Kumbhakarna in Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana?

Director Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious mythological epic Ramayana continues to generate massive buzz as new casting updates emerge for the highly anticipated film. With a star-studded ensemble and grand scale production, the project has already become one of the most talked-about Indian films currently in development.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, actor Faisal Malik has reportedly joined the film to play the powerful character of Kumbhakarna, the giant brother of Ravana from the ancient epic. Interestingly, the role had earlier been linked to actor Bobby Deol, sparking speculation among fans before the latest update surfaced.

Faisal Malik is widely recognised for his popular role as Prahlad “Prahladcha” Pandey in the acclaimed web series Panchayat on Amazon Prime Video. His performance in the show earned him widespread appreciation for his comic timing and memorable screen presence. The actor was also recently seen in Subedaar alongside veteran star Anil Kapoor.

The report states that Malik has already begun work on the film and completed the first shooting schedule for his character. Sources revealed that his introduction scene as Kumbhakarna was filmed at the Prime Focus Studios facility in Mumbai, where he reportedly shot with Yash, who is playing the antagonist Ravana in the film.

According to insiders, the scene involved a major cinematic setup featuring a large international action crew. The sequence is said to rely heavily on visual effects and advanced graphics, with sources comparing the scale and technology used to the groundbreaking visuals seen in the Hollywood blockbuster Avatar.

The report also indicated that several large battle sequences that form a major part of the story will be filmed later. These scenes are expected to appear in the film’s second instalment, which will focus on the epic war between Lord Ram’s forces and Ravana’s army.

Sources further suggested that Malik’s physical build made him an ideal choice for the role of Kumbhakarna. The actor’s height and strong frame reportedly suited the imposing character, who is known in mythology for his enormous stature and immense strength. However, the filmmakers have not yet officially confirmed Malik’s casting.

Meanwhile, another casting development surrounding the film surfaced earlier this year. According to a report by Variety, dancer-actor Raghav Juyal has been cast as Meghanad, also known as Indrajit. The character is the eldest son of Ravana and the crown prince of Lanka.

Juyal’s role will reportedly appear in the second chapter of the film, which is scheduled to release during Diwali 2027.

The ambitious adaptation features an impressive ensemble of actors portraying iconic characters from the epic. Ranbir Kapoor will be seen playing Lord Ram, while Sai Pallavi takes on the role of Goddess Sita. Kannada superstar Yash will portray the formidable Ravana.

The supporting cast also includes Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. Meanwhile, Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh will appear as Mandodari and Surpanakha respectively.

Other actors attached to the project include Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha and Indira Krishnan, further strengthening the film’s expansive cast.

The film is being produced by Namit Malhotra under the banner of Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with Yash’s production house Monster Mind Creations.

Planned as a two-part cinematic spectacle, Ramayana aims to present a grand retelling of the legendary Indian epic using cutting-edge visual effects and large-scale storytelling.

The first instalment of the film is currently slated to hit theatres during the Diwali festival this year, while the second chapter is expected to arrive in cinemas during Diwali 2027.

With its massive budget, ambitious visual scale, and a cast featuring some of India’s biggest stars, Ramayana is already shaping up to be one of the most awaited cinematic events in Indian cinema.
