Keeper arrived on November 14 with hardly any buzz at the box office, and the numbers since then have been trailing far behind the level anyone imagined for a filmmaker coming off two strong runs.
Keeper Box Office Performance: A Massive Gap Compared To Previous Films By Osgood Perkins
The Neon-backed release delivered the lowest opening of any Perkins film. Keeper pulled in $1.1 million on its first day in the US and reached only around $2.5 million in its opening weekend from 1,950 theatres. The per-screen average of $1,296 painted a clear picture of how slow the pace was. When these numbers sit next to Perkins’ earlier releases, the gap grows even wider. Keeper’s opening weekend landed 454% lower than The Monkey’s $14 million start, 785% behind Longlegs’ $22.4 million debut and 143% behind Gretel & Hansel. The comparison alone spread quiet disbelief among those following Perkins’ recent momentum.
Second Weekend Turns Even More Grim
The second weekend carried the same dull tone. The weekdays of the second week yielded meagre earnings, and the Friday-to-Sunday stretch did little to lift my mood. Keeper collected $200K on Friday, $240K on Saturday and $160K on Sunday after losing 565 theatres, dropping its total count to 1,365. This added up to a 76.3% fall compared to its already weak opening weekend. For a title expected to ride on Perkins’ rising name, this turn has become a talking point among distributors watching the late-year slate.

Neon Avoids A Major Financial Blow
The worldwide total stands at $4.2 million against a $6 million budget, with around $3.9 million coming from the US alone, per Box Office Mojo. That is close to 92% of the entire global figure, a sign of how limited its reach has been outside of its own country. Yet one thing worked in Neon’s favour. While MUBI poured $24 million into Die My Love, Neon kept its risk smaller by paying about $4 million for Keeper, preventing a financial mess.
Keeper now appears headed for a domestic finish near $5 million, placing it among the most troubled horror releases of the year, which is surprising given that the year has been largely dominated by the horror genre.

Therefore, adding that to its $150 million domestic debut gross, the worldwide collection is $226.04 million.

An unmanageable crowd of people broke through the barricades and rushed towards the stage, creating chaos in the show. According to the reports, the situation went haywire as hundreds of chairs were destroyed in the process. There were special partitions and hundreds of chairs available for the audience. What happened at the venue?
As per the officials, the Bhojpuri actress was invited to perform at the Muranik Mahadev Dham in the Ramnagar tehsil area of Barabanki. The incident took place at around 10 pm, when people became increasingly thrilled after seeing the vivacious moves of the actress. There was a stampede-like situation as people began pushing each other in order to get closer to the stage.
What was the result?
Reportedly, there were men pushing on pillars, railings, and other structures inside the pandal as they waved their phone’s flashlight while trying to capture videos of the actress. The security tried to get the situation under control by stopping the crowd; however, the people did not stop. Eventually, the barricades could not take the pressure and collapsed under the weight. This led to people rushing towards the stage. This ultimately also led to damage as hundreds of chairs were broken.

As the situation worsened, Akshara had to discontinue the performance midway and was escorted out of the venue by the police and security.
As per the reports, the number of attendees was almost double what was expected, which led to the disorderly situation. The authorities are still assessing the damage that was caused by the mob.
