Why an 'Everybody Loves Raymond' Reboot Will Never Happen, According to Ray Romano

The cast of Everybody Loves Raymond just reunited for a 30th anniversary special, but don’t expect them to get together for a reboot series in the future.

Ray Romano noted during the special that a reboot will never happen and there’s an emotional reason why it won’t ever come together.

“Let’s get one thing out of the way — this is a reunion,” Ray said.

Series creator Phil Rosenthal added, “Not a reboot.”

“We’re never going to do one, because we’re missing three castmembers, three family members. We’d never try to do the show without them,” Ray said.

Phil chimed in, “It wouldn’t be the same. We have too much respect for the show itself and for the beautiful audience. … And thankfully, the show is still on every day, all over the world.”

Doris Roberts and Peter Boyle, who played Ray‘s parents on the show, died in 2016 and 2006, respectively.

Sawyer Sweeten, who played one of Ray‘s kids on the show, tragically passed away in 2015 at the age of 19.

'Squid Game: The Challenge' Season 1 Winner Mai Whelan Thinks Season 2 Game Was Scripted: 'That Is So Lame'

Squid Game: The Challenge season 1 winner Mai Whelan has strong opinions on the show’s second season, specifically the game “Mingle” that was played in the fourth episode.

The reality star was on a recent episode of the Reality Alert podcast where she shared her feelings on the game and how it panned out on the show.

For those who need a refresher, “Mingle” forced the contestants to stand on a huge spinning platform adorned with colorful doors. When the platform stopped, a number was called out and that exact number of players had to scramble into one room together. If they ended up outside or in a room with too many—or too few people—they were eliminated.

It sounds simple, but it turned into chaos fast, to the point that the remaining players banded together and chose not to play anymore. Everyone paired off and the Front Man arrived to “reward” them all with gifts to commend their “bravery” for revolting.

But upon opening their gift boxes, the contestants discovered a bag of marbles, meaning each pair would now be going head-to-head in an even more intense game.

Mai thinks the “revolt” and what followed was scripted. She questioned how they could decide to not play the game they signed up for, calling the whole thing “so lame.”

She also provided an alternative to how the game could have played out. The season 1 winner said if she was in production, she would have called out the number “2″ and then when all the pairs were in a room with the door closed they would discover the marbles hidden inside.

Several commenters on the Reality Alert clip embedded above agreed with Mai‘s take, both that her idea would have worked better and that it was scripted.

However, some of the actual season 2 contestants, like Steven Jones Jr. (Player 183), were more critical.

“Lmao. Mai has no idea,” Steven wrote.

Curt Stinson (Player 370) agreed with his fellow season 2 contestant, saying, “you are 100% correct!”

Kevin Diaz (Player 402) also chimed in: “The money got to her head Steven, forgot where she came from REALITY TV.”

Sawyer Sweeten's Brother & Sister Reflects on His Death During 'Raymond' Reunion, Ten Years Later

Everybody Loves Raymond actor Sawyer Sweeten tragically passed away back in 2015 at the age of 19 and his siblings reflected on his death during the show’s 30th anniversary reunion special.

The three real-life siblings – Madylin and younger twin brothers Sullivan and Sawyer – played fictional siblings Ally, Jeffrey, and Michael Barone on the CBS comedy series.

Sawyer died by suicide in April 2015, weeks away from his 20th birthday.

TV dad Ray Romano mentioned during the special, “So Sawyer, of course, is no longer with us, and we miss him. He just, like you are, was just this bright energy, light.”

Sullivan noted of his brother’s death, “None of us really expected what happened. But I try to think about the good moments and often times that’s here on the set.”

Madylin added, “I just think it’s so important in any conversation that we’re having about Sawyer. We’re very passionate in our family about suicide prevention. It is the second leading cause of death between the ages of 18 to 25. But 90 percent of people who seek treatment are cured.”

“So many of the messages that we get are people saying, ‘I’m so grateful to have heard about your brother. He saved my life,’” she said (via EW).

Sullivan talked about his good memories from the show, saying, “I’ve got plenty of good memories. Playing in the bleachers and the prop room. But I think I’m a sucker for a happy ending, and the final scene with everybody gathered around the table has got to be my favorite memory.”

Learn about what Madylin and Sullivan are up to today, 20 years after the show ended.

Muni Long Throws Shade at Mariah Carey with Impersonator Video, Months After Singer Commented on Her 'We Belong Together' Cover

Muni Long is throwing shade at Mariah Carey and it’s not going over well with the fans.

The “Delulu” singer is promoting her new single with a skit posted to her Instagram account, featuring a Mariah impersonator coming in to audition for Muni by performing the song.

The impersonator tells Muni that she should sing the song the way she just did it. After she walks out of the room, Muni stamps “delulu” on Mariah‘s headshot. At the end of the clip, Muni says to the camera, “I just don’t like when other people sing my songs.”

So, where is this all coming from? Let’s bring you back to the beginning…

Keep reading to find out more…

The whole feud started after Muni performed a cover of “We Belong Together” to honor Mariah at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards back in March. Fans noted that night how Mariah appeared to be giving side-eye throughout the performance, allegedly expressing disapproval.

Months later, Mariah was asked about the performance, but she seemingly misunderstood the reporter. She was asked for thoughts on Muni‘s cover and she apparently thought she was being asked about a recorded version, which she didn’t know about (because it doesn’t exist).

“I didn’t even hear the cover. I didn’t know it happened. No one told me,” Mariah told GQ. “I love Muni Long! I just didn’t know that she had done ‘We Belong Together’ [as a cover] ‘cause her song was so similar to ‘We Belong Together.’ I had no idea that she did ‘We Belong Together.’”

She added, “Well, I’m very honored and flattered that she did it. I love Muni Long, she’s a great person, umm, but I just don’t like people doing my songs. [Laughs]”

Muni‘s video seems to be a response to that interview.

A lot of people are leaving negative comments on Muni‘s new post.

“Oh you trying it! Good luck girl. Mimi is a shade assassin ask J.Lo. Wow,” one fan wrote. Another said, “Good luck on whatever it is you’re trying to achieve…”
