120 Bahadur Gets Tax-free Status in Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Says It Honours Soldiers

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Thursday that the war film 120 Bahadur has been granted tax-free status in Delhi. The movie, which features Farhan Akhtar in the leading role, is based on the Battle of Rezang La during the 1962 Sino-Indian War.

In a post on X Rekha Gupta wrote that the film “pays tribute to the extraordinary courage, leadership, and sacrifice of the 120 soldiers of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment.”

She added, “The film highlights the inspiring leadership of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, whose actions and sacrifice remain a defining symbol of courage in India’s military history. As a special mark of respect to the valiant soldiers, the Delhi Government has decided to grant tax-free status to the film in Delhi from 28th Nov.”

The film 120 Bahadur features Farhan in the role of Major Shaitan Singh, who leads one of the most remarkable last stands in military history. This historical battle at Rezang La saw 120 Indian soldiers bravely defend the territory against more than 2000 Chinese troops.

The film has received praise from political figures previously. On Wednesday, Akhilesh Yadav, leader of the Samajwadi Party, described it as “a commendable film conveying a positive message!” This was responded to by a response from Farhan. Expressing gratitude to the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for watching the film and acknowledging the team’s efforts, Farhan posted on Twitter, “Thank you very much, Akhilesh ji. It is a matter of great joy for the entire team of 120 Bahadur that you took the time to watch the film and also spoke words of praise for it.”

120 Bahadur, directed by Razneesh Ghai and produced by Farhan’s Excel Entertainment, also features Raashii Khanna, Vivan Bhatena, and Ankit Siwach.

Dhurandhar: Major Mohit Sharmas Family Moves Delhi High Court Seeking Stay on Ranveer Singhs Film

Late Major Mohit Sharma’s parents have approached the Delhi High Court and sought an immediate stay on the release of Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar. The family alleged that the upcoming film draws heavy inspiration from the life of the Ashoka Chakra and Sena Medal awardee, without the permission of the family or the Indian Army.
They alleged that various elements shown in the trailer and promotional videos seem to replicate major events from Sharma’s military career, including classified counter-terrorism operations and undercover missions. In its plea, the family members stated that a martyr is not a commercial commodity and his life cannot be recreated for profit, ‘without truth, dignity and due permission.’

Besides violating the family’s right to privacy, the film also portrays sensitive military strategies, claimed the family. They said that infiltration methods and operational details of the security forces have been revealed in Dhurandhar and argued that it can cause National Security concerns. Sharma’s family also alleged that the makers did this without obtaining clearance or approving the script from the Indian Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI). ADGPI is responsible for seeing how the Indian Army is represented in films and media.

Citing these reasons, the family requested the Delhi High Court to halt the release of Ranveer Singh’s film until they are allowed to watch it privately.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Aditya Dhar has already clarified that Dhurandhar is not based on Major Mohit Sharma. Ever since the trailer released, speculations had been going around its real-life connections, as the film is reportedly inspired by actual events. One such rumoured connection suggested that Ranveer Singh’s character is linked to Major Mohit Sharma, who reportedly operated undercover as Iftikhar Bhatt and infiltrated Hizbul Mujahideen in the early 2000s.

In response to a question from Madhur Sharma, Mohit’s brother, who had tagged him to confirm, Aditya wrote, “Hi, sir – our film Dhurandhar is not based on the life of brave heart Major Mohit Sharma AC(P) SM. This is an official clarification. I assure you, if we do make a biopic on Mohit sir in the future, we will do it with full consent and in complete consultation with the family, and in a way that truly honours his sacrifice for the nation and the legacy it has left for all of us.”

Major Mohit was posthumously honoured with the Ashoka Chakra, India’s highest peacetime military decoration, for his ultimate sacrifice in 2009 during a fight with terrorists in the Kupwara sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

Dhurandhar will be released theatrically on December 5.

A day earlier, Brisbane Heat officially announced that Jemimah Rodrigues would not continue in the ongoing WBBL season. The talented batter chose to fly back to India to be with her close friend and teammate Smriti Mandhana, who has been going through a difficult personal phase.
The recent days have been extremely tough for Mandhana, India’s star opener and vice-captain of the women’s national team. She was supposed to get married to music composer Palash Muchhal on Sunday, November 23. However, the wedding had to be stopped unexpectedly due to health and personal reasons, leaving the cricketer emotionally distressed.

Rodrigues’ quiet decision to immediately return to support Smriti Mandhana is being praised as a powerful example of loyalty and care, both on and off the field. Suniel Shetty’s post highlighted how such actions speak louder than any public statement.

Many fans responded by calling it a beautiful example of true friendship in sports and applauded Shetty for recognising the importance of empathy during personal struggles. As the news spreads, support continues to pour in for Smriti Mandhana during this challenging time, with fans hoping for peace and strength for her and admiration flowing toward Rodrigues for choosing compassion first. Also Read: Suniel Shetty REVEALS why he rejects south film offers
