The makers of one of the most anticipated Odia films, Bindusagar, have unveiled the film’s first look teaser, offering audiences a glimpse into its deeply evocative emotional and musical world. Rooted in Odia culture yet universal in its appeal, the film is set for a worldwide theatrical release on April 10, 2026.
Bindusagar explores timeless themes of love, loss, faith, identity, and homecoming, weaving a poignant narrative that speaks to both local and global audiences. Drawing inspiration from Odisha’s cultural ethos, the film aims to tell a story that resonates far beyond geographical boundaries, capturing the emotional complexities of belonging and return.
The film has already made history for contemporary Odia cinema by premiering at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa, marking a significant milestone for the regional industry. Its presence at one of India’s most prestigious film festivals signals a growing recognition of Odia storytelling on national and international platforms.
Bindusagar also marks the first Odia-language venture for Platoon One Films, expanding the production house’s footprint into regional cinema. The film is directed by Abhishek Swain and written by Abhishek Das, and produced by Shiladitya Bora along with Vinay Reddy and Shubho Shekhar Bhattacharjee of Boundless Blackbuck Films, in association with Nikhil Chaudhary of MDC Filmworks.
The ensemble cast brings together a powerful mix of talent, led by National Award–winning actor Prakruti Mishra, alongside Dipanwit Dashmohapatra, Sonalli Sharmisstha, and Satya Ranjan. Veteran performers Sukant Rath, Robin Das, and Pranab Rath add further depth to the film’s layered narrative.
Speaking on the film’s cultural significance, producer Shiladitya Bora emphasized Odisha’s cinematic potential on the global stage. “Odisha has a rich cinematic legacy that deserves wider recognition. We believe this is a moment of rebirth for Odia storytelling, and Bindusagar is our humble step toward that future,” he said. Bora is known for producing acclaimed films such as Bayaan (TIFF 2025), Ghaath (Berlinale 2023), and the National Award–winning Picasso.
Actor Prakruti Mishra, who plays Shreeja, described Bindusagar as a deeply personal and emotional journey. “It’s not just a film—it’s an emotion. It’s about searching for home, love, and identity, something everyone can relate to,” she shared.
Director Abhishek Swain added that the film aims to balance cultural authenticity with emotional universality. “Our goal was to tell a hyperlocal Odia story through a cinematic language that resonates everywhere, while staying true to the soil it comes from.”
