After announcing his retirement from playback singing, Arijit Singh has revealed the reason behind it. The Tum Hi Ho singer took to his private X (formerly Twitter) account last night to share this heartbreaking news. He clarified that he will not stop making music and also explained the reason behind his decision to retire from playback singing.
He wrote, “There isn’t just one reason for this; there are multiple factors, and I have been contemplating this for quite some time. Ultimately, I have mustered the necessary courage.”
Arijit continued, “One of the reasons is quite straightforward: I tend to lose interest quickly, which is why I frequently alter the arrangements of my songs and perform them live. So, here’s the truth: I’ve grown weary. I need to explore different music to thrive.”
He also explained that he is eager to hear new singers who can genuinely inspire him.
Last night, he took to social media to share this heartbreaking news. His statement read, “Hello, Happy new year to all. I want to thank you for giving me so much of love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not gonna be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey.”

He stated that he will continue making music and added, “God has been really kind to me. I am fan of good music and in future will be learning more and do more on my own as a small little artist. Thanks again for all your support. I still have to finish some pending commitments , will finish them. So you might get some releases this year. Just to be clear that I won’t stop making music.”
This comes just a couple of days after his latest song, Maatrubhumi, from Salman Khan’s Battle of Galwan, was released. Arijit is known for several memorable hit songs such as Tum Hi Ho, Zaalima, Kalank, Apna Bana Le, Zamaana Lage and more.
