Abhinav Kashyap proved his worth as a director with the Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg (2010). His second film was the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Besharam (2013), after which he went off the radar. In 2025, he resurfaced with a series of interviews wherein he blasted Salman Khan and others in the Hindi film industry. Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap had a fascinating conversation with Mayank Shekhar of Mid-Day about his journey, Kennedy, setbacks etc. and he was asked to comment on Abhinav’s interviews.
Anurag Kashyap began by saying, “I know exactly what is happening. I don’t want to make any comment on it, simply because a long time back, he had asked me not to talk about him.”
Anurag further said, “Being a brother, I love him…I understand that a lot of things have been said and there’s a defamation case that he has lost. This thing is already out there. Lekin main uske baare mein public mein kuch nahin bol sakta. I can say whatever I want about myself. But he’s my brother and he has simply and clearly told me that main uske baare mein koi baat na karoon.”
Interestingly, Anurag and Abhinav have a sister, Anubhuti Kashyap. Anurag proudly said, “Her film, Accused, releases a week after my film Kennedy.”
He also said, “I think my dad was so handsome; my mother was so beautiful. I was like, ‘If you guys had come here in the industry, you would have become Vinod Khanna or Dilip Kumar,’ because he used to look like Vinod Khanna.”
Anurag then joked as he wondered how different things would have been if his parents were a part of the film industry, “I would have been a nepo kid! My life would have been easy. If not Dharma, then it would have been Karma Productions. Something would have happened!”
