Veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher recently proved why theatre remains his first love by performing his autobiographical play Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai despite battling intense foot pain.
Taking to Instagram, Kher shared glimpses from the emotionally charged evening, where he performed to a packed auditorium. The visuals captured both the electrifying stage moments and the overwhelming response from the audience.
Describing the experience as a “triumph against all odds,” the actor opened up about the physical struggle he faced before stepping on stage.
“Last night at my play Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai was truly a triumph against all odds,” he wrote.
“My foot was in extreme pain before the show. Every step reminded me of it. But the moment the lights came on and the play began… I forgot. Completely.”
Reflecting on the timeless belief that the show must go on, Kher explained how live performance possesses a unique magic that transcends physical limitations.
“Theatre has a joy, an immediacy and an energy that no other medium can replicate. It doesn’t allow you to hide. It demands presence. And in that presence, pain dissolves,” he shared.
For Kher, performing the play is more than just storytelling — it is deeply personal.
The autobiographical performance recounts his journey through failures, rejections and self-doubt, making each show a cathartic experience.
“Standing on stage and telling my own life story to a full house is deeply therapeutic. It is my way of healing,” he said.
He also expressed gratitude to the audience, calling their applause a source of strength.
“Your applause was not just appreciation — it was strength. Because truly… the show must go on. Har Har Mahadev!”
Meanwhile, on the professional front, the veteran actor continues to remain as active as ever.
He is currently working on his milestone 550th film, Khosla Ka Ghosla 2, a sequel to the much-loved 2006 film Khosla Ka Ghosla directed by Dibakar Banerjee.
The sequel will revisit the story of Kamal Kishore Khosla, the middle-class Delhiite whose dream of building a family home is shattered by a fraudulent real estate dealer played by Boman Irani.
Joining Kher and Irani in the film are Parvin Dabas, Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey and Tara Sharma.
Even after decades in the industry, Kher’s resilience on stage continues to inspire — proving once again that passion can triumph over pain.
