There’s still nothing quite like the original PlayStation console, even three decades on, and there’s nothing quite like the new Anicorn x PlayStation 30th Anniversary Mechanical Watch, either.

The 1994 debut of the beloved gaming console flipped the industry on its head, bringing the arcade to living rooms in vivid fashion, and the independent watchmakers and designers at Anicorn are aiming to pay tribute to that milestone in the most engaging way possible. With a mere 600 units made available for pre-order, Anicorn notes “this anniversary timepiece … encapsulates the essence of gaming nostalgia” even at a quick glance, replacing the 12, 3, 6 and 9-o’clock hour markers with PlayStation’s instantly recognizable controller button shape symbols.

Anicorn was of course careful to note that the original PlayStation 1 console doesn’t come with pre-order of this gamer geek timepiece, which doesn’t skimp on specs. And while you can still find the OG PlayStation console on the market, pre-ordering this watch still might prove easier than it was to get your hands on a PlayStation 5, at least through 2023. As to the sleek new horological feat, the highly limited-edition, soon-to-be-rare Anicorn x PlayStation 30th Anniversary Mechanical Watch features a Miyota 9039 mechanical movement and runs for up to 42 hours when fully wound.

Its hands also feature Start and Select designs from the controller, while the order of this likely elusive watch includes a PlayStation badge and a memory capsule, because the thirtieth anniversary of a gaming achievement is one worthy of a little added flair. A limited-edition numbered memory card comes within the capsule, with each bearing the production number out of 600 global units. The NFC-enabled memory capsule also functions with just a tap as the memory card did to save your progress decades ago, offering options to save, load or overwrite your journey via the wearer’s own Digital Memory Board.
Those who love the crisp, nostalgic look of the Anicorn x PlayStation 30th Anniversary Mechanical Watch would do well to keep an eye out for other video game-inspired Anicorn collectibles, including a Death Stranding 2 Terminal Ring made by the company. Priced more than fairly at $780, this tribute to a monumental benchmark in video game history should prove a worthy wrist game upgrade.
