The much-anticipated teaser of Shatak: Sangh Ke 100 Varsh, a film marking 100 years of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has been unveiled, sparking nationwide attention and debate. Timed with the organisation completing a century since its founding, the film seeks to chronicle the RSS’s long journey, its ideological roots, and its role in shaping national life over the past hundred years.
Since its release, the teaser has generated considerable discussion across social and political circles. Several prominent figures have reacted to the project, adding momentum to the buzz surrounding the film. Yoga guru Baba Ramdev had earlier expressed his support, and actor Ajay Devgn has now publicly endorsed the film, further amplifying its visibility. While there have been previous cinematic attempts to portray the RSS, Shatak stands out as the first such project to receive open encouragement and backing from voices associated with the Sangh’s wider ecosystem.
Congratulating the RSS on the milestone, Ajay Devgn shared his thoughts on social media, applauding the organisation’s contribution to nation-building over the last century. In his message, he highlighted how Shatak aims to shed light on this journey and extended his best wishes to the entire team behind the film. His endorsement has drawn significant attention, particularly given the sensitivity and scale of the subject.
Earlier, a key moment in the film’s promotional journey took place at the RSS headquarters, Keshav Kunj in Delhi, where the song Bhagwa Hai Apni Pehchaan was unveiled. The launch took place in the presence of RSS chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat and Shri Bhaiya ji Joshi, who offered their blessings to the film. The event underscored the symbolic importance of the project and its positioning as a commemorative tribute.
The teaser opens with a powerful line: “This is the story of an idea that many tried to erase again and again over the years.” With this, the film signals its intent to address decades of confusion, criticism, and misunderstanding surrounding the RSS. Rather than avoiding controversy, Shatak attempts to place these debates within a historical and factual framework, inviting viewers to re-examine the organisation’s evolution over time.
The film brings attention to foundational figures whose roles are often discussed but not always fully understood, including Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar and Guruji Madhav Sadashivrao Golwalkar. It also references influential leaders such as Lokmanya Tilak and Mahatma Gandhi, situating the RSS within the broader narrative of India’s freedom struggle and social movements. The teaser touches upon key moments in Indian history, from the independence movement to the Emergency, highlighting how the organisation navigated turbulent political phases.
Directed by Aashish Mall and produced by Vir Kapur, Shatak: Sangh Ke 100 Varsh is described as a deeply personal project by its director. Mall has shared that the process of making the film became a journey of discovery, revealing aspects of the Sangh that are rarely discussed in mainstream narratives. According to him, the primary objective was to address existing misconceptions honestly, without sensationalism.
Producer Vir Kapur adds that among the many social and political movements that emerged between 1875 and 1950, the RSS remains unique in having continued its work uninterrupted. This enduring continuity is reflected in the film’s tagline, “Na ruke, na thake, na jhuke” (Neither stop, nor tire, nor bow), which encapsulates the organisation’s self-image and long-term commitment.
Positioned as a tribute to generations of volunteers, Shatak: Sangh Ke 100 Varsh aims to rekindle conversations around nation-building, discipline, and collective service. The film is set to release in cinemas across India on 19 February 2026, inviting audiences to engage with a century-long story that continues to shape contemporary discourse.
