
Veteran actor and Bollywood superstar Dharmendra is no more. The actor – born Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol, passed away earlier today at his Juhu residence. He was reportedly surrounded by his family and close industry friends when he breathed his last.

Sources in the know confirmed that Dharmendra passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025 and his last rites will also happen today.

On Monday, November 10, reports of the superstar being admitted to South Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital made the headlines. Many reports surfaced stating that the ‘Sholay’ actor was in critical condition and has been put on ventilator support. A week prior to this hospitilisation, Dharma ji was admitted to same hospital on account of breathlessness and was in the ICU during that period.
Following multiple reports, of Dharmendra’s health deteriorating, his wife, actress-politician Hema Malini took to X (formerly Twitter) and asked fans to pray for his recovery. She tweeted, “In the midst of report I thank everyone for their concern about Dharam ji who is in hospital for observation. He is being continuously monitored and we are all with him. I request you all to pray for his welfare and speedy recovery.“

After the health scare – which resulted in several death reports also circulating online, the Ikkis was discharged and has been receiving care at his Juhu residence.
Dharmendra Career
Born on December 8, 1935 in Nasrali, Punjab, British India (present-day Punjab, India), Dharmendra began his acting in 1960 with the Arjun Hingorani-directed Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere. In a career spanning 65 years, Dharam ji went on to star in over 250 Bollywood films, including some of the industry’s most iconic titles.
Honoured with the Padma Bhushan – India’s third highest civilian honour in 2012, some of Dharmendra’s most loved films include Phool Aur Patthar, Seeta Aur Geeta,, Dharam Veer, Chacha Bhatija, Ghulami, Hukumat, and more. His performances in films like The Burning Train, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Life in a… Metro, Apne Yamla Pagla Deewana series and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani were also immensely loved.
On the work front, Dharmendra last big screen outing was the 2024 sci-fi rom-com Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in the lead. His next release was Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis with Agastya Nanda, scheduled to release on December 2025. The film based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal and centered around the Battle of Basantar during the 1971 India Pakistan War. It stars Agastya Nanda as 2nd Lt Arun Khetarpal.

Dharmendra’s Family
Dharmendra is survived by his wives Prakash Kaur – whom he married in 1954 at the age of 19 before he entered film industry and actress Hema Malini – whom he married after making a name in Bollywood. He is also survived by his 6 children – Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta, Ajeeta, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol as well as 13 grandchildren Karan and Rajveer, Aryaman and Dharam, Prerna and Sahil, Nikita and Priyanka, Radhya and Miraya, and Darien, Adea and Astraia
