Actor and entrepreneur Vivek Oberoi recently addressed concerns surrounding the broader Middle East situation, particularly the ongoing tensions linked to the Israel–Iran conflict. Speaking about life and business in Dubai, the actor said that the situation in the emirate remains largely stable despite global perceptions of instability.
Oberoi, who has been involved in several business ventures in the United Arab Emirates, said that many reports circulating internationally often exaggerate the impact of regional tensions on daily life in the city. While geopolitical developments continue to dominate headlines, he suggested that the experience on the ground in Dubai is markedly different.
At present, the actor is in India filming for the upcoming movie Spirit. However, he recently discussed his experiences in Dubai during an interview with Firstpost. During the conversation, Oberoi dismissed claims that the conflict has significantly disrupted business operations in the emirate. According to him, companies in Dubai have demonstrated resilience and adaptability while navigating the uncertain global climate.
Oberoi used a metaphor to explain his perspective on the situation. He said that while external observers often perceive instability, the environment within Dubai continues to function with confidence and purpose. In his view, businesses and residents in the city remain focused on long-term growth rather than reacting to short-term geopolitical developments.
He described Dubai as a place that continues to operate with strong momentum despite international uncertainty. According to Oberoi, the city’s markets remain active and corporate environments continue to display energy and determination. He suggested that this sense of stability comes from a broader collective belief among businesses and residents in the city’s long-term trajectory.
Oberoi also highlighted the role of governance in maintaining this environment. He credited the leadership of the United Arab Emirates for creating a framework that prioritises security, economic stability and long-term development. In his view, this governance model has helped ensure that residents continue to feel safe even during periods of geopolitical tension in the region.
Beyond business considerations, Oberoi spoke about the personal side of living in Dubai during uncertain times. The actor shared that he recently reunited with his family there, an experience that brought him relief after being away. According to him, the simple moment of returning home and seeing his children enjoying a board game provided a sense of calm and normalcy.
He explained that as a parent, the well-being and peace of mind of one’s family become the primary concern. Observing his children enjoying everyday activities reassured him that their lives remained unaffected by broader geopolitical developments.
Oberoi also addressed concerns about security in the city, noting that some people outside the region may misunderstand precautionary measures taken by authorities. According to him, actions taken by the government are often interpreted abroad as signs of fear, when in reality they represent proactive security planning.
He emphasised that the UAE’s security systems are designed to ensure safety for residents and visitors alike. In his view, the country’s leadership has succeeded in creating an environment where stability and unity remain priorities even when neighbouring regions face uncertainty.
Meanwhile, reports recently surfaced about an incident near Dubai International Airport involving a fire that occurred after a drone struck a fuel tank in the surrounding area. According to reports cited by The Indian Express, the event prompted authorities to temporarily suspend flight operations as a precautionary measure.
The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority later confirmed that flights had been briefly halted to ensure safety following the fire. Officials stated that the decision was part of routine emergency response procedures and emphasised that the suspension was temporary.
Authorities indicated that such precautionary steps form part of a broader security framework designed to respond quickly to potential risks. The situation was brought under control, and normal operations were expected to resume once safety checks were completed.
Oberoi’s comments reflect a broader perspective shared by many residents who continue to live and work in Dubai during a period of heightened regional tension. While geopolitical developments remain a concern across the Middle East, the actor suggested that everyday life in the emirate continues with relative normalcy.
