Nicole Kidman has revealed that one thing can instantly ruin an intimate scene for her and it has nothing to do with acting chemistry. Speaking on the Las Culturistas podcast hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, the Oscar winning actor admitted she is extremely sensitive to smell and that bad breath from a co star is an immediate dealbreaker while filming romantic scenes.
Kidman explained that smell plays a major role in how she reacts to people around her. “I’m very smell sensitive. I’m either drawn to or drawn away based on a smell,” she said during the podcast conversation.
The actress said the situation becomes especially difficult when filming intimate scenes. According to Kidman, even the most attractive actor cannot overcome bad breath in that moment.
“You could be the most gorgeous guy and if you came at me with bad breath, I’m like no, no, no. If I say breathe on me and I have to recoil, I’m out. You could not offer me enough money,” she said.
Kidman even recalled a specific moment while filming the HBO drama Big Little Lies, where she starred opposite Alexander Skarsgård as the troubled couple Celeste and Perry.
She remembered calling out Skarsgård after he ate a falafel sandwich before they had to film kissing scenes together.
“When Alexander Skarsgård ate a falafel sandwich before we did the scenes in Big Little Lies,” Kidman recalled, saying she immediately told him to put the sandwich away because she was supposed to be kissing him on camera.
“I’m meant to be kissing you and into you. Put away the falafel now. Because the bad breath does not turn me on,” she said.
Kidman added that while smelling good is important, the most important factor for her is the mouth itself.
“The taste of the mouth and the smell of the mouth is very important to me,” she explained.
During the podcast, Kidman also revealed who she believes smells the best out of everyone she has met. According to the actress, that title goes to none other than Rihanna.
When the hosts mentioned they had heard rumors about Rihanna’s incredible scent, Kidman confirmed them without hesitation, saying the global superstar smells “intoxicating.”
