South Korean actress Kim Min Ha, widely known to Indian audiences for her performances in Pachinko, Light Shop, Way Back Love and Typhoon Family, joins the Korean dubbing cast for Netflix’s Tamil film Made In Korea. The movie is premiering on the OTT platform on March 12, 2026.
Made In Korea follows Shenbagam, or Shenba, based in the small town of Tamil Nadu, whose childhood fascination with Korean culture inspires her to experience it for herself. When she unexpectedly finds herself in Seoul, reality proves far more challenging than she imagined.
In the film’s Korean dub, Kim Min Ha voices Shenba. Opening up about the project, Min Ha said, “I have always nurtured a dream of dubbing, so it’s an honor to be able to take part in a cross-cultural project like Made In Korea with just my voice. It felt unfamiliar to portray a character using only my voice, but because it’s something I have always wanted to try, it was all the more fun and meaningful. I hope the audience can relate to Shenba’s journey as much as I did.”
Interestingly, Made in Korea is Kim Min Ha’s first-ever dubbing role since her acting debut. In the Korean film industry, she is known for her solid vocal technique and clear diction. Moreover, the makers have tried to reach wider audience through subtitling and dubbing in up to 37 languages worldwide. Opening up about the language barrier, Priyanka Mohan, who plays Shenba in the Tamil film, told Filmfare, “Oh yes, definitely there was an immense language barrier. Not many people in Korea speak English. The only mode of communication was English because we didn’t know Korean. We had a couple of ADs and production people in Korea who were helping us out. They knew English. So they were helping us out with explaining and communicating with the Korean actors there as well. It was difficult, but towards the end of the shoot, we didn’t have that barrier because we kind of understood what we both spoke. We understood what we were trying to express.”
