Anna Camp Opens Up About Embracing Her Bisexual Identity at 43

Actor Anna Camp has spoken publicly about identifying as bisexual, sharing details about her personal journey and evolving sense of identity in her 40s. The actor discussed the topic during an appearance on the podcast I’ve Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario, hosted by Tommy DiDario.

In a preview clip from the episode released ahead of its March 10 publication, Camp reflected on the decision to speak openly about her sexuality while working in the entertainment industry. She said acknowledging her identity publicly required courage, particularly given the level of public attention that often surrounds celebrities.

Camp, who is 43, described feeling proud of herself for discussing her sexuality openly at this stage of her life. She acknowledged that revealing personal aspects of identity in the public eye can invite criticism and speculation, but said she ultimately felt comfortable sharing her experience.

According to Camp, the decision to speak openly was connected to a broader period of personal reflection and growth that she says she has experienced during her 40s. She described this period as a “major evolution,” explaining that she has chosen to approach changes in her life with openness rather than hesitation.

Camp explained that while the process of publicly discussing personal identity can feel risky, she believes embracing authenticity is important. She said that recognizing the limited time people have in life influenced her decision to prioritize personal happiness and self-acceptance.

During the podcast conversation, Camp also discussed how people often develop a fixed sense of who they believe they are earlier in life. She said that for many individuals, including herself, those expectations can change over time.

The actor explained that there were moments in her life when she believed she had a clear understanding of how her future would unfold. However, as circumstances evolved, she found herself reassessing those assumptions and reconsidering aspects of her identity.

Camp suggested that personal growth sometimes involves challenging long-held beliefs about oneself. Rather than feeling constrained by earlier expectations, she said she has chosen to remain open to continuing change and self-discovery.

Camp first publicly confirmed her relationship with writer and stylist Jade Whipkey in May 2025. The couple later made their red-carpet debut together at the premiere of Camp’s film Bride Hard in June of the same year.

Their relationship quickly attracted attention online and in entertainment media. In a later interview with Cosmopolitan, Camp said she and Whipkey were somewhat surprised by the level of public interest.

Despite the sudden attention, Camp noted that much of the response from fans and audiences had been supportive. She expressed appreciation for the positive messages the couple received after confirming their relationship.

Before identifying as queer in 2025, Camp had previously been married twice. She was married to actor Michael Mosley from 2010 until their divorce in 2013.

She later married actor Skylar Astin, her co-star in the musical comedy film Pitch Perfect. The couple wed in 2016 but separated in April 2019. Their divorce was finalized later that year.

Camp indicated that her current focus is on living authentically and remaining open to further personal development. She suggested that growth can occur at any stage of life and that individuals should not feel pressured to stop evolving simply because of age or past expectations.

While discussing the subject publicly can be challenging, Camp said she sees it as part of embracing a more honest version of herself. She emphasized that personal change is a natural part of life and that acknowledging those changes can lead to a stronger sense of self.

New episodes of I’ve Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario are released weekly, and Camp can currently be seen in the upcoming horror sequel Scream 7.
