After months of quiet anticipation, Mental Manadhil has finally offered audiences a glimpse into its emotional world. The makers of the upcoming romantic drama unveiled its first single, Uyire Uyire, a tender melody that signals the film’s heart. Sung by Kapil Kapilan and written by Selvaraghavan himself, the track captures the delicate beginnings of love between GV Prakash Kumar and Madhuri Jain’s characters.
The song leans into warmth rather than spectacle. Framed around fleeting smiles, tentative glances and the quiet intimacy of falling in love, Uyire Uyire paints a picture of a relationship blossoming in unhurried beats. GV Prakash’s composition complements Selvaraghavan’s introspective lyrics, offering a melody that feels rooted in longing and vulnerability. For fans who have long associated Selvaraghavan with complex emotional landscapes, this track hints at a return to familiar terrain.

GV Prakash and Selvaraghavan share a history that goes beyond this project. The composer previously collaborated with the filmmaker on Aayirathil Oruvan and Mayakkam Enna, delivering soundtracks that have since attained cult status among cinephiles. However, Mental Manadhil marks a first in their professional equation. This time, GV Prakash steps in front of the camera under Selvaraghavan’s direction.
GV Prakash is not only acting in the film but also composing its music and backing it under his banner, Parallel Universe Production House. Selvaraghavan, on the other hand, appears to be revisiting the full-bodied romance space that first cemented his reputation. Films like 7G Rainbow Colony and the Telugu drama Aadavari Matalaku Arthale Verule, later remade in Tamil as Yaaradi Nee Mohini, showcased his knack for exploring flawed love stories layered with emotional rawness. With Mental Manadhil, he seems poised to tap into that emotional frequency again, albeit with a fresh pairing and contemporary lens.
Cinematographer Arun Ramakrishnan handles the camera, while Balaji takes charge of editing. Art direction is helmed by RK Vijay Murugan.
GV Prakash, who was last seen in the children’s comedy drama Lucky the Superstar on JioHotstar, has an eventful slate ahead. As an actor, he is set to appear in projects like Happy Raj, which also marks the return of Abbas to Tamil cinema. As a composer, his lineup is equally packed, with films such as Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara and starring Sivakarthikeyan, along with titles like Mandaadi, Suriya 46, Kara, Magudam and DQ 41 in various stages of production.
For Selvaraghavan, Mental Manadhil represents both nostalgia and reinvention. For GV Prakash, it is another bold step in a career that refuses to stay in one lane.
