Legal trouble has once again come knocking for Ameesha Patel, after a Moradabad court issued a non-bailable warrant against the actor in connection with a 2017 event dispute. The order was passed after she allegedly failed to appear before the court despite being served multiple summons.
As reported by Free Press Journal, the case relates to a complaint filed by event organiser Pawan Verma. He claimed that Ameesha had been booked to perform at a wedding on November 16, 2017, and was paid an advance of Rs 14.50 lakh. Arrangements for her stay were also made at a hotel on Delhi Road in Moradabad.
According to Verma, the actor did not travel to Moradabad on the scheduled date. He told the court that after discussions, she assured him of a full refund. While Rs 10 lakh was allegedly returned in cash, a cheque of Rs 4.50 lakh issued later reportedly bounced, prompting him to seek legal action.
Reacting to the recent development, Ameesha’s lawyer Abhishek Sharma said the matter was already settled years ago. He maintained that the entire amount had been repaid as per the agreement and claimed the complaint was being misused. The counsel also expressed confidence that the actor would appear before the court and clarify her position.
