Netflix has unveiled the gripping teaser for its upcoming war drama Operation Safed Sagar, starring Jimmy Shergill in a pivotal role, as part of its much-anticipated “Next on Netflix” lineup. Inspired by real events from the 1999 Kargil conflict, the series brings to life one of India’s most daring and historic military operations carried out by the Indian Air Force.
Operation Safed Sagar was the IAF’s air campaign during the Kargil War and is recognised as the world’s highest-altitude air operation. Conducted under extreme weather conditions and treacherous terrain, the mission played a decisive role in India’s response to enemy infiltration in the Kargil sector. The Netflix series aims to showcase not just the military strategy behind the operation but also the human courage that powered it.
The one-minute-and-thirty-second teaser offers a tense and emotional glimpse into the lives of fighter pilots who flew dangerous missions at unforgiving heights. From high-stakes decision-making rooms to intense training sessions and mid-air combat sequences, the teaser captures the relentless pressure faced by the pilots. Beyond the battlefield, it also explores the personal lives of the officers, highlighting the sacrifices, fear, resilience, and emotional toll of serving the nation during wartime.
The series is created and led by Abhijeet Singh Parmar and Kushal Srivastava, directed by Oni Sen, and written by Sandeep Jain, Nikhil Ravi, and Barun Kashyap. It is produced by Matchbox Shots LLP in collaboration with Feel Good Films, both known for backing grounded and impactful storytelling.
Alongside Jimmy Shergill, the ensemble cast features Siddharth, Abhay Verma, Dia Mirza, Prajakta Koli, Adil Hussain, Mihir Ahuja, Taaruk Raina, Arnav Bhasin, and Amrita Bagchi, promising a powerful mix of performances.
According to the producers, the show is deeply rooted in real incidents and seeks to authentically portray the bravery and determination of Indian Air Force pilots during the Kargil War. The Indian Air Force has extended its support to the project to ensure factual accuracy and realism.
Operation Safed Sagar is set to premiere on Netflix, with the official release date expected to be announced soon.
