Neelam Kothari has firmly dismissed the rumours of an affair with Govinda from the 90s, calling him a good person and emphasising that there was never anything romantic between them, despite media speculation. The on-screen chemistry between Govinda and Neelam in several films had sparked numerous rumours of a real-life romance. While Govinda has openly admitted to being attracted to Neelam and even wished to marry her—going as far as calling off his engagement to Sunita Ahuja—Neelam recently addressed these circulating claims and set the record straight.

In a podcast with Usha Kakade Production, Neelam stated, “O teri, who said this? Govinda ji bahut hi acchhe insaan hain, magar yeh jo sawaal hai, yeh sach nahi hai (Govinda is a very good person, but this question is not true).” She further clarified, “He is a wonderful human being, and we’ve done several hit films together. But there’s nothing between us. Sorry, but this isn’t true at all.”

Neelam also reflected on the rumours that dominated headlines in the 90s. She said, “I think link-ups were part of the whole game. There was no one to clarify the truth. They just printed whatever they felt like, and honestly, back then, we were scared of the press. Because it was the power of the pen, and it was just part of the game. If you did more than two or three films, it was understood that… (you must be together).”
