Akshay Kumar added a dose of fun and nostalgia to filmmaker Priyadarshan’s 69th birthday celebrations by roping in Vidya Balan for a playful surprise. The actor shared a light-hearted video on Instagram, giving fans a glimpse of the warm bond he shares with the veteran director.
In the clip, Akshay is seen sitting on a wooden rocking horse as he wishes Priyadarshan good health, happiness and many more successful films ahead. “Many, many happy returns of the day, Priyan sir. You are turning 69, a great age sir, great age sir,” Akshay says with his trademark humour, before teasing that someone else has a birthday wish to share.
That surprise turns out to be Vidya Balan, who makes a cheerful appearance from inside a toy house. The actress, who memorably collaborated with Akshay and Priyadarshan in the 2007 hit Bhool Bhulaiyaa, is heard saying, “Happy birthday Priyan sir and all the best for Bhoot Bangla,” instantly sparking nostalgia among fans.

Sharing the video, Akshay captioned the post with affection and wit, calling Priyadarshan “one of the best human beings” he knows and wishing him a blessed year ahead. He also added a playful pun-filled birthday greeting, staying true to the spooky humour associated with their collaborations.
Priyadarshan is currently directing Bhooth Bangla, which reunites the iconic trio of Priyadarshan, Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. The film also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Tabu, Rajpal Yadav and Mithila Palkar in key roles. Produced by Balaji Telefilms in association with Akshay Kumar’s Cape of Good Films, the project is backed by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Faara Sheikh and Vedant Baali.
Written by Akash A Kaushik, with screenplay by Rohan Shankar, Abilash Nair and Priyadarshan, Bhooth Bangla is slated for a theatrical release on May 15, 2026.
