Garrison Brothers, a pioneer of the Texas craft bourbon movement, has announced the latest addition to its award-winning lineup: its first-ever Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon. The six-year-old expression is scheduled for a limited distillery release on February 28, coinciding with celebrations for Texas Independence Day.
Distilled in the fall of 2019, the landmark bottle marks the 10th unique bourbon in the distillery’s boozy portfolio. To earn the “Bottled-in-Bond” distinction, the whiskey must adhere to the strict U.S. Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, which requires the spirit to be the product of one distillation season, one distiller, and one distillery. It must also be aged in a federally bonded warehouse for at least four years and bottled at exactly 100 proof.
“From day one, Garrison Brothers has cooked our own mash, fermented our own distillers beer, and aged our bourbon right here in Hye,” said Dan Garrison, founder of Garrison Brothers Distillery, in a statement announcing the release. “For six summers, this whiskey moved in and out of the wood, deepening its color. This release marks a milestone for our entire team.”
The Texas distillery has frequently garnered national attention and critical acclaim for its bold flavor profiles. Their Laguna Madre bottle landed on Maxim‘s Best American Double-Barrel Whiskeys of 2025, and Garrison’s small-batch Red, White and Bourbon bottle was released to celebrate National Bourbon Day.
Master Distiller Donnis Todd added that the goal was not simply to meet a legal definition, but to create a benchmark for the category. “We were not chasing ‘bottled-in-bond.’ We were chasing the best bottled-in-bond bourbon ever made,” Todd said.
The flavor profile was described by the brand as robust and earthy, opening with notes of tobacco and leather. The palate features toasted oak and wood sugars, drawing comparisons to maple syrup and sassafras. The finish lingers with caramelized dark chocolate, roasted almonds, and toffee.
The initial release of 2,000 bottles will drop at the distillery in Hye, Texas on February 28, during a “100 Proof Texas Celebration” event. Following that distillery launch, the Bottled-in-Bond bourbon will be available online and at select retailers and bars across the country by late March with a suggested retail price of $99.99. Garrison Brothers, established in 2006, remains the oldest legal whiskey distillery in Texas and distributes whiskey across all 50 states and five countries.
