Vishal Bhardwaj’s much-awaited film O’Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor, has become one of the most talked-about upcoming releases — and not just for its star power. Amid swirling rumours of controversy and security concerns, the makers have officially confirmed that the film’s trailer will launch on January 21. This clarification comes after reports claimed the trailer event had been cancelled due to alleged threats, sparking widespread speculation online.
Putting all doubts to rest, the production team released a striking new poster featuring Shahid Kapoor and announced the trailer drop date. The caption read, “Trailer out tomorrow. #SajidNadiadwala presents a #VishalBhardwaj film #ORomeo in cinemas on 13th Feb, 2026.” The bold visual and announcement instantly reignited excitement among fans eagerly waiting to see Shahid reunite with Vishal Bhardwaj after several years.
Earlier, the teaser of O’Romeo had already generated massive buzz, especially after social media users drew connections between the film’s storyline and the real-life figures Hussain Ustara and Sapna Didi. As online discussions intensified, reports surfaced claiming that the gangster’s family had issued threats to the filmmakers. However, these allegations were firmly denied by Hussain Ustara’s daughter, Sanober Shaikh.
In an interview with India Today, Sanober clarified that her family has no hostility toward the film’s team. She expressed admiration for both Vishal Bhardwaj and Shahid Kapoor, stating they have no issues with the makers. She explained that their only request is to watch the film before release to ensure their family’s story is portrayed accurately. Sanober also stressed that no threats were ever made and that they simply seek transparency and fairness.
She further objected to reports suggesting a romantic relationship between her father and Sapna Didi in the film. According to Sanober, the two shared a sibling-like bond in real life, and portraying it romantically would be misleading. She emphasized that if the film draws from her father’s story, it should stay true to reality. The family, she added, is prepared to take legal action if necessary to protect their truth.
O’Romeo marks Vishal Bhardwaj’s reunion with Shahid Kapoor after more than eight years. The duo previously delivered memorable films like Kaminey, Haider, and Rangoon, making this collaboration highly anticipated. The film also introduces Triptii Dimri in her first project with Vishal and Shahid.
The star-studded cast further includes Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Disha Patani, Aruna Irani, Vikrant Massey, Farida Jalal, and Tamannaah Bhatia, adding to the film’s grand scale.
Scheduled to release in theatres on February 13, 2026, O’Romeo promises intense drama, powerful performances, and a story that has already sparked curiosity long before its trailer launch.
