Young creator Ishika Shahi, who has steadily carved a niche for herself in the digital entertainment space, is all set to launch her new web series titled Jabb Zodiacs Met. Known for creating engaging and youth-centric digital formats such as Double Trouble and Actors Roundtable for Director’s Kut Productions’ official YouTube channel, Ishika continues to experiment with fresh storytelling styles that resonate with modern audiences.
The upcoming series has already generated considerable buzz, not only because of its unique concept but also due to the involvement of popular actor Gaurav Khanna, who serves as the Sutradhar, or narrator, of the show. Speaking about his role as the narrator, Gaurav shared that the experience was both fulfilling and creatively satisfying. He revealed that he recorded for the series before entering the Bigg Boss house and completed the entire narration in a short span of two to three hours. “I am the voice of this series, and it was a lovely experience working with a new-age storyteller like Ishika Shahi,” he said. According to Gaurav, the project stood out because it allowed him to explore voice work, something he considers both challenging and exciting.
Gaurav further praised Ishika’s creative sensibility, acknowledging the strong storytelling lineage she comes from. He credited her father, veteran producer Rajan Shahi, as one of the most respected storytellers in Indian television, and also highlighted the influence of her mother, Pearl Grey, who has had an illustrious career as a story writer, creative professional, and former channel head. “She comes from a pedigree,” Gaurav remarked, adding that he is always happy to collaborate with emerging voices who bring fresh perspectives to storytelling.
For Gaurav, voicing Jabb Zodiacs Met was an opportunity to experiment beyond traditional on-screen roles. He explained that emoting without facial expressions or body language is a demanding task for an actor. “As an actor, I feel it’s very challenging to emote without showing your face,” he said. He expressed satisfaction that his work was appreciated by Ishika, Rajan Shahi, and Pearl Grey, while noting that the final verdict now rests with the audience.
When asked about the intriguing title of the series, Gaurav described it as catchy and reflective of the show’s unique concept. Jabb Zodiacs Met explores how individuals with different zodiac signs and temperaments interact with one another. The series delves into compatibility, emotional responses, and contrasting personalities, presenting these dynamics through a contemporary narrative lens. Gaurav believes the concept will strongly appeal to Gen Z viewers, new-age audiences, and even mature viewers who enjoy relatable, thought-provoking content.
Gaurav Khanna continues to enjoy immense popularity for his portrayal of Anuj Kapadia in the hit television show Anupamaa. The character earned him a massive fan following, and even today, fans affectionately recognize him as Anuj wherever he goes. Sharing his thoughts on reuniting with Director’s Kut Productions, Gaurav described the experience as deeply emotional and comforting. “Working with DKP again, even for a short stint of a few hours, was very heartwarming. It felt like coming back home in a new way,” he said. While DKP has long been associated with successful television shows, Gaurav praised Ishika for taking the banner in a new direction with digital-first storytelling.
He also revealed that Ishika was keen on having him as the voice of the series from the very beginning. According to Gaurav, Rajan Shahi personally told him that Ishika was clear about wanting his voice to anchor the show. Expressing gratitude, Gaurav said he feels fortunate to have been chosen for the project.
