According to her account, she felt unsafe and locked herself in a room for nearly two hours while contacting others to ensure her safety.
The most serious allegation came after Zhou says she confronted Renner about his behavior and asked him to respect her boundaries as a woman and a filmmaker. She claims Renner responded by threatening to call U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on her. Zhou has described the threat as deeply frightening and coercive, especially given her immigration status.
These claims quickly spread across social media and news outlets due to Renner’s prominence as an actor best known for playing Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Renner has strongly denied all allegations. His legal team released statements calling the accusations false, defamatory, and outrageous. His representatives have said that Renner has issued a cease and desist notice and disputes Zhou’s version of events entirely.
